Mine shoots 34*F with a 90*F ambient temperature. I'm on R-12.

I have plenty of virgin R12 to keep me cool for at least the next 30 years.

Just coverted to envirosafe

Did some service on FJ60 AC yesterday. Changed receiverdryer, changed some O-rings at compressor fittings. Evacuated, checked that it held solid vacuum for 30+ minutes. Charged w/ one can of envirosafe Enviro-Safe leak stopper, then 2 cans of envirosafe.
Everything seems to be working correctly, but center vent temps run between 48-55F on digital AC thermometer. Ambient temps 82-92 degrees w/ serious humidity.

Ok, I checked the vent temp on my FJ80 again today after the AC shop replaced the whatever valve, sorry I don't remember the name of the @#$%$#@ valve, and is shooting 58 degrees, using R134. so for comparison I went and checked the vent temperature on my Isuzu P/UP and the temp was 50 degrees, all this at 78 degrees outside. what could I do to make the temp go lower on the FJ80? after I get this AC working right, next will be the 60 turn.

Probably the expansion valve. You might just let a little bit out and see if that helps it get a little colder. A lot of times they will overfill it just a bit and that will hurt the performance of the system.

Took mine to the mechanic on Friday, he added half a can to my 134a system and we found out my thermometer was inaccurate. Blowing about 40-42 degrees from center vents. Much better than the 58-60 I was reporting earlier.

I do the change in my 60 from 12 to 134 with so so results .. I'm not really convinced that the 134 it's much more colder .. anyhow Always my AC technician said that the 134 it's far better than 12 ..

I'm not convinced right now .. and I just have the impresion that it make my compresor work more hard ..

Ran R134 for a couple of years. Always blew 48 deg. Last year in the quest for colder air, converted it back to R12. Still blows 48 deg. I found no difference between the two.

Update:
My system was charged w/ Envirosafe a couple weeks ago. Has been leaking slightly at the compressor ever since. Musta been slightly overcharged, because while driving to & from CMCC last weekend, vent temps were down to 42*F.

My 60 is running R-134a at idle on a 90 degree day she puts out 45-50 degrees and thats at 33-34 psi on the low side and 190psi on the high side (so basically perfect pressures) now when its about 75-80 degrees at night she will drop below 38 while driving and condensate the windows.

my 92 prelude i also converted myself and it outs out 44 degrees at idle on a 90 degree day. now when the sun drops and its bout 75-80 outside and im driving it drops below freezing.... so far i have got it to 31 degrees.

on a converted system (R-12 - R-134a) you want to run pretty much 75% of what it orig called for. Reason being is the molecules in a R-134a system are larger than those of a R-12 system. (hence why the R-12 is colder) also that being said some vehicles after idling for a while (again on a converted system in good functioning order) the a/c will begin to get warmer or even quit cooling.
This is due to the fact again of the larger molecules and the system is creating more heat because the larger molecules therefore making more pressure and when siting for a bit the fans may not be moving as much air so not keeping the system pressure down enough. when this happes the pressure switch will engauge and shut off the a/c for a short period (cycling on and off) or it will be so high it shuts all the way off. again not uncommon for a converted system. but soon as you get moving it will kick right back on and cool it right back down again.
also the quicker the compressor is moving freon the cooler it will be.

sorry so long but i hope it can help someone that may be having problems. if not well someday it might.

Talking about heat issues .. after my conversion I note at iddle the engine runs more hotter than whan it have R12 ..

And if I shut off the AC the temps also goes down .. ( at the same point that had when AC with R12 was function )

Normal .. ?

Maybe the compressor is working a little harder moving the R134A????

just a tad again cause the size of the larger molecules.

but i think the heat is coming from the added heat running through the condensor then translating over to the radiator. not a big deal really. i didnt notice much of a change in temp if any at all on my rig. but then again a drive a gasser and tapage runs a badass diesel.:flipoff2:

I work at a refrigeration shop and have some 12 around. Does anyone know the stock amount of ref in the system for an 83 fj60
