I decided to spend a lot of time yesterday playing with things. I moved frame brackets twice and ended up moving the axle as far forward as possible.

I have measurements from a 76-series that I have been using to lay this out. At the end of the day I didn’t like how it was sitting so I put things where I like them and so everything still clears and works.

I will be doing most of my final welding this afternoon.

Cheers

thanks for clarifying, if Toyota did it, there is usually good reason for it. The whole point of converting to coils would be for ride/handling improvement over leafs, so I agree it wouldn't make sense to skim on the geometry and potentially end up with worse performance then the leafs were.

3-link it and you could change it however you want that will fit.

Final test fitting to weld on a couple steering stops.

Real happy with how this has turned out. Just need to polish the knuckle balls and clean up 3rd member mating surface and it is ready for final assembly.

I am in the middle of a bunch of painting, once done I can go for it.

First time I have put a lot of weight on it.

I worked closely with a body resto guy some years ago for four or more months. He taught me prep is everything when it comes to paint. I probably spent 10hrs in prep on this and it pays off.

A lot of effort to do up a frame this way....

I figured, it needs paint due to fab work. I can either rattle can it quickie-deluxe style or I can take the time to do it right.

No better time to do this than now! And yes I painted the frame in two sessions.

For anyone thinking about doing this job, I hope you can tolerate many hours on your back working overhead. :)

Cheers

Really happy to be done with the frame, so much work but the results are very satisfying.

Picked up this 120amp alt from Cruiser Brothers.

I gambled on the sway bar during layout, I didn’t have the right one until yesterday. Turns out I nailed it axle side mounts and the spread needed for them.

In case you didn’t know, the difference between getting brake lines from Toyota with the rubber abrasion coating or not is simply the difference between a 1 or a 0.

I don’t plan to take it apart again. 79-series sway bar mounted up in there now as well.

The rear is ready to stuff the shaft.

Super clean, the owner should be very happy with your work. Can't wait to hear reviews of the ride quality after all this.
