Unless you installed a blowby catch can there is nothing you can do. BUT it should not be leaking without a turbo. My guess is the engine is high mileage.

Mine does leak a bit also, but it leaks mainly when the oil level is high, once it drops to half on the stick it stops leaking. But again it never leak high or low level when i didn't have a turbo.

Nope 100,000 km on the cruiser!? I'll check the oil level:D

Thanks for the info,
P

Please, please that thing has been restored, do not take odometer for cash....

When we get her repainted I think a cool pink would be amazing!

Was looking at the oil dip stick and it has no marking on it!? WTF am I missing something. Can I get the oil filter at the local Canadian tire??

Will have those brand new rims and tires for sale soon,
P

WOW, just noticed the number of views on my post. If anyone wants any specific pics of this cool rig please ask and I'll take all the pics people want. Hey Wayne, want to chime in and let people know what you think of the rig. Don't be shy;)

Could the sump be overfilled? Might explain oil dripping out the crank vent tube. I'd get the proper stick for it and check ASAP.

I am pretty sure you can get a NAPA Gold filter for it. Someone, else will chime in with the number or say I am wrong. :meh:

I have the 1981 2B and I use the same fuel filter as the 3B... Napa gold for me as they are consistantly in stock (though I don't know why as we never had them here - must work on a different application).

Some poeple use a wix product. If they have issues mating up the engine, just go with the 3B filter.

When Wayne and I checked the block it said B on it. I don't have Napa in Sudbury Ontario but will try my local parts store called Canadian tire.

Its sure is fun tracking down the little things,

Nooooo, don't tell me it is a B engine and not a 3B?

Wayne are you hiding somewhere?

I was thinking it would at least be a 2b... but then remebered that the 2b was Japan only and it;s a long way from there to SA for a used vehicle. Yup... if it's not an 8/80 (81 model year) then it's a B. Not bad, but will need some consideration with turboing and parts.

I've been driving it for the last 3 days and love the way it drives! Think I'm going to leave it completely stock as its fxxxing cool:steer:

Now to find all those little rubber parts that are missing! Brand new steel wheels and mil spec tires will be ordered today:)

P

Oh ya, any one have a canadian part number for that big ass filter!? The guys at toyota Sudbury suck:(

P

Thanks for the link. Man that site is hard to find the small rubber parts on. 5 Steel wheels and tires are on order and will be here to my door in 2 weeks. Thanks again Wayne:D

If anyone is interested the vin on this bad boy is BJ43004541

not hiding, just fighting 2 dead computators lately. first the house base gets a cold then the brand new laptop goes into hibernation and wouldn't fire up.
lap top working now but the base unit is going to the doc on monday...

plus redoing the cement in the garage and installing a pit, then spray insulation and new elec. noting but $$$$$
darn.

as for the rig, it is cool.
the paint is fine in my eyes
never got to hear it run but the engine is definately a B engine. i have no issues what so ever with the B engine, great on fuel, decent power and just as reliable as the 3B
H41 tranny, too cool.
weird shut down, no edic just a choke cable.
12V
body is amazing
interior is very nice
top is wicked

a very good score for $30K.

needs a little work but nothing really "oh my god".

Hey Wayne, nice to see your up and running again. I should have started the thing for ya but we where 2 busy with beer and chicken wings then your great place. The cruiser will be back to ya in 2 weeks when we get those new steels installed:)

I have a tone to learn on this vehicle but love every second of it! Thanks for all the help with the little stuff,
P

Having trouble looking for parts as no one lists a 43 on web sites!? What should I be punching in a Fj40 for basic parts. Lets say I want and OME Steering stabilizer what would be the part # or series cruiser I would type in!?

Having fun,
P

OEM or OME? OME- old man emu by ARB and you should look here
http://www.arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/accessorizeYourRig/toyotaLandCruiser40.pdf

and for OEM
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/
click on vehicule market "other"

Then the year, model (landcruiser), then BJ43, etc.. you can search by VIN also.
