No need to worry folks. I am going to keep the thing as stock as possible. I did see that winch and I can have it shipped to our parts specialist her in town for $2200 plus taxes. As for the bumper I will order one ASAP also as I like the clean look of the old school bumper but not its flimsy build.

Wayne, you're hired for the install of the bumper, winch, and heat:D I will get you the parts and we can install them when we do the heat!

Having a hard time sleeping waiting for the drive on Sunday night.

Thanks for the awesome info,
P

would you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do this sometime when I am in town.....

I want to see this truck in person.

Hey Rusty, I take it your from Southern Ontario. I'll let people know when Wayne gets his hands on it:)

2 more sleeps till I see this thing,
P

wow that is a gorgeous landcruiser, that thing belongs in car museum not dirt roads IMO. But as wayne said your money, not ours...

Not trying to be negative but just remember when your out in the bush that your driving one of the nicest examples of a 40 series in north america.:steer:

im about half hour from Waynes... work up here at a power plant

wife and kids are in South Carolina - I get to go home every two weekends to spend time with my family.... will be very sad if you bring the truck by Waynes house on one of my weekends in the states

have been over at Waynes quite a bit over the summer / fall working on the HZ40, the HZ 79, the Troopy plow truck, and now the PZ 78

Tomorrow we are putting the hood on the PZ, got the rest of the rear lift kit to go on, and reinstall the front seats

... last delivery was a HZJ40 to San Francisco last month...

Wait, that sexy green beast you built got delivered to my neck of the woods and I haven't gotten to check it out?? :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

I'm keeping a better lookout for cruisers around here.

Edit: Just looked in on the build thread - this is what I get for being MIA on MUD for a while.

Hey Rusty,
don't worry the Cruiser will be in your neck of the woods for more than 2 days:steer: I can now see who is taking up all the shop time:D

I lived in South Carolina for 7 years in a town called Florence. I know the drive well as my family was her in Northern Ontario and I drove home every month!

See you around,
P

At the Michigan ohio border i think:) Only 900km to go and I'll see how cool this thing really is. Almost found a 45 but it was sold. They are hard to find in Canada.

Going to sleep now,
P

That looks like a 3b to me ??Where is the cruiser located in the us?? I could meet you there maybe and drive back with you for the fun of it and then fly home to Ct?? Those chrome wheels would look good on my BJ42

That is the web site, if you have $ they are the snitz.

Head to expeditionportal for alot of info on those trailers.

Are these the south african made ones? I had a close look at some here and they are ok for the price

Cruiser located in Louiville Tn. Really not sure where the Bj is from? I will be seeing it in 10hours:D:D

Finally have the bj43 after driving for ever. The paint on the thing is terrible and looks like it was done by a 14 YEAR old:( The Bj interior is in really good shape and the under carriage is mint also. Everything works. I have all winter to get someone to strip the thing and put a real coat of paint on it.

Hey Wayne see you some time tomorrow. Im 400km from Sarnia and not sure how long it will take to get all the paper work done.

Nice machine, Please dont Fxxx -it

damn you border dwellers... :flipoff2:

I have to ship everything from the land of golden cruiser parts (Canada). :bang:

Let me know if you have any questions as I have been working on my 44 for sometime now, and am still learning a lot.

Oh, and I can help you do the turbo kit if you are interested. I think even the purists would thinks that's a worthy mod.

my .02c is in agreement with crushers on the wheeling thing. It's a great rig, and they only made a few in the world, so take good care of it. There are only a few real 43/44/46s out there and they are dieing out fast to rust and bad decisions. My 44 is going to be redone this summer and I have decided to get another rig for a beater and keep this one a little more on the expo side of things.

Hey All,
sorry for the late reply. I travelled 4000km in two days and I'm totally tired. I did make a detour to Wayne's neck of the woods and can only say that he is an amazing individual with a very cool collection of cars. Looking forward to installing heat and getting those split rims powder coated and installed on the cruiser.

Please rest assured that the cruiser will not be used for heavy wheeling as I have a 4runner for that duty.

As I drive the beast I find the cabin is filling with diesel:frown: I must have an exhaust leak somewhere and need to fit some rubber gaskets that are missing in the fire wall. Can someone please let me know if the emergency brake is supposed to have a boot around it as I find it is letting a lot of engine smell up into the cabin and I can see the road:D

I will post pics when the beast has its brand new Old school tires and rims installed:)

Time to find out where that engine oil is leaking from! Have to love old vehicles as its always fun to tinker!

Hey Wayne, hope to see you soon after you get that cool workshop done!

P

I found out what is leaking black oil! I have a little pipe on the block near the oil filter that is dripping oil when I park the thing? Anyone know what gives??

P

Is it dripping oil while idling?. If you have oil dripping I would have to say a tired engine. The pipe is the crankcase blow by.

Mine does leak oil a bit but it has been doing this since I have a turbo. It never really leaked before the turbo.

I would test the engine compression
