Not advisable to hold your breath for either.... ;)

I'm looking for a 3-speed driveshaft for PTo winch, or just the slipyoke part of it. Mine is a frankenstien shaft built with a stock long section, and a Toyota truck???? or car slip yoke that kind of fits, but is way loose and lets the shaft flail about. Plus the bolt pattern is not quite right on the PTO box end. Anyone have these parts, either a whole shaft, or the short slip end of one.

As far as a cover goes, I did the same thing as was posted on page two, I made a little boot like the transfer shifter and used a metal receptacle cover also. As far as the gate goes, my detents are strong, and if you leave the winch head in neutral, you are generally safe from damaging anything.

I actually made a cloth boot for the tranny shifter too, looks stock, makes them all match, kind of European looking.

I have the hole setup . I will take a picture tonight and post it up. The body is not on right noe and you can see the whole setup of the linkages and levers.

Thought I'd share a pic of a hinge I ground into a shift gate. It'll do until I find an OEM or Ehsan fabs one.

Hello there
I missed this thread. Sorry. Can you or anyone else email me (ehsankiani@yahoo.com) or post here an exact trace of the cover. i can then get it made here. Just put the cover on a paper and trace the edge using a pencil, take a picture or scan it and post it here. I would appreciate it. I will, meanwhile try to find one here in Pakistan to replicate.
Thanks
Ehsan

Feel the love!

picture of FJWagon's is the best representation I've seen.

Thank you. Here is what I need. Someone put this thing onto a plain sheet of paper. Then trace the outer edge of the piece, scan it and post that up so I can print it out and get a sample made. The making would take approximately 2 days only. So I am waiting for someone to volunteer for the sketch.

I will look for it and take measurements so we can have an idea what the deminsions are.

The round head (bottom in the picture) was original, at least to the early trucks, according to the parts catalog pictures. No longer available. The skinny knob, which I think is the same as transfer floor shift knob (I wouldn't know, would I?), is still available new, AFAIK.

I just must have a thing for bent shifters!

Dave, I used an automatic shifter from an older car (believe it was from a mid 70's Honda Civic). Modified the locking mechanism to only 2 locking positions (one for pto engaged and another for PTO lock). Once the shifter is in one position, it wont move until you depress the release knob. So, its pretty safe.

I am tracking down the linkages with a view to making whatever I can't get (which may be all of it but anyway...)

I have the H55F 5 speed split case transmission on my BJ42 and the PTO is installed and working forward/reverse/neutral.

Not being able to remove the gearbox I can't easily see from underneath if the H55F has the same mounting point as the earlier ones shown (H4x?) (the midline flange obscures the upper half of the case) - I suspect the H55F has the same outside casting and guess that I will be able to bolt the shift lever on in the same position but would like to hear from anyone who can confirm the application on this transmission.

In the mean time I will see if I can get a visual on any of it using a mirror etc...

Regards,
Will

NO, the shifter on my PTO on the BJ60/H55 does NOT mount the same as the PTO shifter on the FJ55 or FJ45 with the H41 or H42 trannys. The split case model I have has a bracket that carries the shifter and is bolted to the tranny near the filler hole as well as using a couple of top cover bolts.

Thank you for that. If you get a chance could you post a pic of the bracket and its location please?

I will see what Toyota have in the way of spare part support for this assembly but otherwise I will make something up.

This is the best thread I can find right now on the subject of PTO winches so I'm adding these two photos that appeared on Trademe recently. (The New Zealand equivalent to Ebay)...

My reason for adding them is because I can't recall seeing brackets of this design shown anywhere before ... and they both look OEM. (I'm referring to the "intermediate mount bracket" for the driveshaft and the "hinged shift lock bracket".)

(I will be trying to copy that chassis-bracket when I remount my winch driveshaft - Whenever that will be.)

Those are some interesting mounts and the shift plates too.

Here are some additional pictures of shift plates I have made....

This picture is from the FJ55 PTO shaft. The FJ55 doesn't have the bearing under the rad but behind it. Looks like someone doctored the '55 shaft to fit a '40 series.

Here's a picture of my '55 PTO bearing mount. You can see the resemblance.
