In my experience.. that is a seriously odd system..

But I have been wrong a bunch of times...

One thing I do not like, Get an electric fuel pump. I cannot see anything good by blocking off the mechanical fuel pump and letting it build pressure..

The mechanical pump can't build pressure it has a return to the tank for the excess.

Propane is pretty popular here there is even a $2000 government rebait to switch to it:bounce:

Could you take a pic of what the mixer looks like on the inside?

OK brb but you will be disappointed :D

Been through my pics don't really have a good one this is the closest I can find it really is just a ring with a feed pipe if I recall.

If Shortly Forty's is in bits he may be able to post up a better pic, I would have to strip the air Cleaner off get a photo and it's Sunday :D

Lol that looks to simple. So that is your mixer? And you have no issues with performace issues using propane? One thing I do know is there is an air restrictor on top of the carb.

No air restrictor with my set up it really is that simple.

Their is a DYNO print out on page one of the 2F-ETI build thread see link in sig

Propane is great, cheap, only draw back is Range but I run Dual fuel so 80Ltrs Propane and 80Ltrs Gas is my max load. 80Ltrs=21Gal approx

Propane/Gas Switch and Propane gauge below

When running and injected system, it is best to put in a relay that switches between the injector, and a resistor of the same resistance as the injector. That way when running on propane the injector is not cycling dry (and wearing out) but the resistor fools the ecu so it doesnt think there is an injection fault

On mpi injection systems, they ussually have to start on petrol - the length of the manifold runner is too long to get a good propane flow - there is aussually a small elecronic box that starts on petrol then automatically switches over when started (normally triggered off oil pressure sender or alt output). This also has the advantage of lubricating and cycling the injectors on each start so they dont dry oput and seize up - likewise the fuel pump.

My system is almost identical - I did turn out approx 2mm out of the top to remove the restriction (vloume is now the sum of the two barrels). However, a slight vacuum below the restrictor helps suck in the propane and I'm not sure it was an imporvement overall - must find another original one so I can compare!

Very cool. I have been considering this also. So basically a regulator, tank, control unit and some solenoids. I like the idea of using your current carb. The kits listed for a V8 on gotpropane require a sq bore intake and replaces the carb. Not economical at $1250.00 plus. The picture of the air cleaner with the hose on top seems simple.
