. . . and propane accessories. . . .

That way you don't have to carry different fuel for your BBQ :flipoff2:

Around here, propane is MORE expensive than gas...

sucks, but I'm still running my FJ on it for the angles and the simplicity.

Better make sure your ignition system is healthy... I hope to get by with a hi-output coil on my HEI.

How long have you been running pane Rich? I'm not concerned about cost myself, just want to be able to run at steeper angles.

High output coil is not necessary for propane.

It is better to run a stock output spark (cooler) than a high output spark.

I've been running propane on my '82 fj45 since I bought it (2000). PO had done the swap. It has the stock 2f and a rather big ass 200 litre tank in the box.
I love the system. Apparently you lose some mileage and power when compared to gasoline..but I prefer the perks of it. such as the cheaper cost (altho its always creeping up these days), the ease of use, less moving parts in your enginebay (no fuel pump to crap out on you), the ability to keep running at extreme angles, and did I mention the 1200 some odd km range i get with such a large tank?
For whatever technical reason, the engine oil seems to stay a lot cleaner running propane vs gas. Some of the downsides are lack of filling stations (not a problem here in BC tho) and in cold weather it can be harder to start..but so is everything else really.
For me, its been an extremely painfree experience, and Id use it in another vehicle should the chance arise.

Propane is not to blame for the loss of power. Its the fact that your engine isnt set up for it. There are alot of drag cars that run propane and they are obviously not worried about the environment, cost, or running at angles. The only thing they are after is power. With an octane rating of 105 or so you can increase the compression ratio or add a turbo....i.e. Mace.....and you can have your cake and eat it to.

a buck a liter ! i filled up today in vancouver b.c. $1.17 liter:doh: in canada all our limo's and taxi's are either running propane or natural gas , for a dailly driver it is very feasable . we can also get it at almost every service station around. build the engine for a propane setup and you will have plenty of power. i think it is a sweet idea . actually am considering this option myself . that 350 sure is thirsty these days

Today, I went to the pump and the gas was 1$/liter for regular and 1.07$/liter for the supreme!!!!! (more than 4$ a gallon IIRC) They are crazy here in Montreal...i don't know what is going on!!! This s*cks!! Maybe propane is what I need for my cruiser and my chevy van.....

I check around for a propane kit to put on my TBI SBC 350. I never actually saw one but, the reports are that it costs around 1-2 grand for this type of conversion
Are you kidding? It should only cost 3-4 hundred.

Down under LPG is about 50% of the cost that petrol is and as long as you dont run the both on your rig there is no power loss. Because you have to tune the engine for the two different fuels there will be a loss when runing either petrol or the LPG as your finding a middle ground. Stick with one or the other and you dont get the power loss plane and simple. Just allow a bigger tank cause there will still be more needed per mile than petrol . But not much more!!
