I think this thread needs to be in the hardcore or diesel forum. Judging by the lack of participation, I'd have to guess that some of our fellow 45 owners may be offended about what we're "doing to this poor truck".
IMHO, it's going to be one of the sweetest 45 pickups out there when its done.

She is a pretty quiet forum:beer:..

That said, I likey what I see:D:D...

Gonna be at the Rubicon this year for the big event with this rig?

Were no offended just watching. Why drive a stock drivetrain?

I was wondering the same for a while. Then the thought of what it was before, and where we are taking her made sense to have this in the 45 section.

The truck had previously been brutally hacked from the cab back, with a "custom" bed, tubed rear frame, home-built cage inside and out, camo paint, and so on...essentially a pseudo-buggy. Nothing essentially wrong with that, but I wanted something more subtle.

The rig when done will be much closer to original in outside appearance with a slightly shortened bed; Spring Green, white roof, and Land Cruiser bezel. All of the drivetrain is Toyota, picking the best Mr. T options out there for the rig. Even have picked up a set of early-style hubcaps to go with the steel wheels. Interior, well we have plenty of mod-con creature comforts planned. That way it will be possible to drive her out to Moab and the like, even in the summer heat or bitter cold. Rubicon, definitely not this year as she will still likely be under the knife.

If anyone is offended, well you do not have to read the build thread. Had I found a pristine original truck, I would have left her that way.

This is going to be a work of art.
70 section is quiet too.
Unless one is in the 80 series forum it's not that busy IMHO

In my opinion there should be more resto mod builds on the board just like this one. This is a a great combo of classic truck with drivability . Anytime Georg and Don have there hands on a project they become a piece of art. Very nice truck wish it was mine in the shop

"creative outlet"?! Sure

"art"?! Not so sure

Definitely looking at the different options. I do like the ICON setup and may see if we can pull something similar off. You lose some of the pocket, but gain footroom.

Maybe I missed it, but are you doing anything to make more room in the cab? That's my big beef with the 45 LPB, no leg room.

Interior rollcage, Ididit tilt wheel, aftermarket seats placed as far back as possible and with sliders...plus I am a whopping 5'8" on a good day, so not overly worried about interior room.
