since its a metal that you can use fingers radiators to repair the tank, I used them when mine rotted out along the seam. cost was reasonable it was 135 or so.

theres also a place in Trenton, I think its a-z air conditioning that can repair metal tanks.


I love the name for the build, thanks for not calling it project taylor ham
 
Cool to see another local New Jersey guy...Pork Roll..Taylor Ham same thing! Get her up and running! snow storm was crazy hope you didn't loose power or if you did not to long! Cheers!

everyone knows its pork roll......taylor is just the brand.

but on a serious note, how do you have your pork roll, egg and cheese? got to go with salt, pepper, catsup and hot sauce on an egg bagel

No one here orders "pork roll" but yes just the brand haha..Hmmm I'm more a bacon egg and cheese guy however.. Egg,Cheese,little bit of ketchup on a toasted butter roll gets it nice and crispy

Thanks for the advice on the radiator. I'm going to check that route out as well when I get to that point.

Pork Roll, Egg and cheese on roll with salt pepper ketchup! Same with bacon as well - can't go wrong.

Fortunately we didn't lose power during the storm. A lot of downed trees and branches though. Looks like we are in for another one next week.

I hope not, while I like the money from plowing I'm ready for warmer weather.

index their the ones that I used and we use them at work as well. if you have a brass rad they can rebuilt that as well.

I'm making some good progress. Should be another week or two before I get the carb back so I should be ready to at least try to start it then.

I bought a used cluster off of Ebay for 60 bucks. Between my original and the ebay one I was able to piece one together. I used the pewter rattle can that JToutfitters offers and I'm really happy with the results. I also had to dismantle and reassemble the speedometer, so hopefully it will work properly. Here are some before and after pics:

I also put back most of the engine stuff after cleaning and or replacing (water & fuel pump, timing cover, distributer, plugs, thermostat, etc).

Going through the electrical components as I go. Nothing seems butchered, or at least it doesn't appear to be. I cleaned up the fuse panel:

The front disc setup is going on too. I dropped off the hubs/discs to get the lugs pressed into them at a local shop. They should have them tomorrow so hopefully I will get them setup soon.

I bought those TRE bushings that are needed for the steering arms. Does anybody have any experience with installing them? Are they just pressed in? Does it matter which way it drops in - from the top or bottom of the arm? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I should be getting my overland metric bolt kit in the mail tomorrow. I'll be able to get the splash guards and battery tray back in. Chipping away but still a lot to do.

They are tapered so will only install in from the bottom. Mine went right in without any effort.

My mistake, they install from the bottom(its been a long time). I placed one on TRE and the installed into steering arm.

Thanks! Here are a couple of pictures of the dash. I removed the ashtray and glovebox door to paint them. I also took off the dashpad since it is in REALLY rough shape. The PO put a few extra holes in the dash :meh:. I was thinking about welding them up but I may just try to find some plugs for them for now. If I ever tear the whole thing down to do a proper paint job I'll probably deal with them at that time. In the meantime I just want to get this thing mechanically sound so that I can enjoy it.

Thanks @Jdc1 , they popped right in like you said.

I was able to get the discs/hubs on today. When I received my used calipers, with the front disc knuckles off of a BJ73, they only had a side clip holding the pins in place. The new brake pads came with an additional clip. I tried to search for pics but came up short. Can anybody confirm that this clip is set up right ? Thanks!
