Caught the start of this year's second snowfall on the way back from lunch.

Days like this make me really enjoy the hard top with the heater running. Had some lemonade and a Jimmy John's sandwich in the rig while I watched the news on my phone, sitting in the National Forest. Might've sent a couple of work emails, too. It is Wednesday, after all.

Kicked Pikachu in 4WD today and scouted out one of my favorite gulches after lunch.

For some reason along the route, I started thinking about what I'd be doing in this moment if I still lived the corporate grind. Then a nice mulie crossed the road in front of me and the other thought fled my mind completely.

Come on down some time. Seriously.

I’ll take you up on that for sure, probably won’t be til spring at earliest since we just started basketball season…but I’ll definitely take you up on the offer.

@FJBen grab me on the way!
We’ll make a pilgrimage down there….65mph the whole way 😂

That would be a lot of fun. Let's get something together when it works for your schedules.

Well, I'm a glutton for punishment. After 7 years of deliberating, I've decided to start tackling the removal of the bed liner on the FJ40's floor as a Winter project. I've always hated the stuff, and I'm sure that this project will reinforce that feeling.

It's gonna mostly be a combination of CitriStrip and wire wheels, followed by a coat of rattle can Toyota 532.

Ugh.

But I’m excited to see your process for rattle canning the interior…I have canned Smurf blue and need to do the same to Purdy’s floors

Have you tried the dry ice method? It works very well for factory sound insulation, but I don't know if it works the same with bedliner material. It's definitely less labor intensive.

You should just double down and line the while thing with Dynamat. Then you REALLY have a job if you choose to remove... but might be worth the effort for the sound and heat?!

Stuff is happening.

So I believe the top plate gasket on my transfer case has been the cause of the main gear oil leak I've had for years, so I want to remove it and put a new gasket in while I've got the transmission cover off. Any recommendations on which gasket to go with? OEM? FelPro? High Tack sealant? The part is gasket #8 circled in red.

And current status. It's tempting to yank this dirty combo out and clean/rebuild it, but it just doesn't need it. Gotta know where to draw the line and avoid mission creep.

Citristrip does a heck of a job, by the way. I've only done the front upper floorboards so far. Spent most of the time removing parts.
