Remind me exactly your setup? I have 5160/6112, and not a lot of weight in the back besides the 3rd row… so trying to figure out if I wanna do 2” springs out back or just spacer. Unfortunately the rear shocks, although mailed on Monday, are coming via USPS and they suck, so won’t be here til Monday…
I have Dobinson ims 2 to 3 inches coils in the rear my front are set to 2 inches. No armor besides sliders. I have Wasatch overland drawers in the rear.

We got that KDSS lean… gotta fix that.
Also ordered a few more pieces, Dobinson 2” no-load springs, diff drop kit and pan-hard bar correction kit…
Hopefully it’ll all be here (along with the rear shocks) in next couple days.

One step at a time…
  • Dobinson springs received and installed… 2” lift springs but initially lifting the rear ~3”… about an inch of rake, so we’ll see how it settles
  • Bilstein rears installed
Still gotta do the Amp Research steps, panhard bar correction bracket, and PUT THE MEATS ON THERE TO SEE WHERE TO SLICE AND DICE!

If I recall correctly the rear Bilstien shocks are soccer for 0-2” lift

This is with the front set to the 5th perch?
Considering dropping to the 4th on mine, lessen the preload.

Ok… another day, another bad(ish) decision.

I sold my 62 and while my 40 is at @cruisermatt ’s shop, and a need to purchase a more modern/comfortable set of wheels, I was on the lookout for something I had Zero experience with… the 200-series.

What I found was 3 x versions, of which I prefer the look (and the price) of the initial 2, but I also read somewhere, someone’s opinion that the 2013-2015 was kinda the “value spot” for that version so that was my focus.

Didn't take me too long driving around in my wife’s 1983 F100 to find what I was looking for, so a conversation or 3 was had (with my wife and the seller) and a Sunday drive to Bama was scheduled.

Found a silver 2013 TLC with some Nitto Grapplers, 250K miles, zero rust, and most importantly a binder of maintenance receipt from the local Toyota dealer from day1, where it was obvious that no expense was spared.

Mileage doesn’t scare me but deferred maintenance does.

Also to note, it came with a stop at Cracker Barrel because Bama.

What are your dogs smelling...road kill?

What are your dogs smelling...road kill?
If you know anything about the breed of those dogs, you’ll know they (really mainly the cream colored one) aren’t the brightest lights in the shed… so they could easily be smelling their own breath, and rather just looking closely at my new purchase and taking mental “before pictures” they can store away prior to me making (more) bad-ish decisions.

The Amp Research steps getting installed while we waited for FedEx to deliver new lugnuts 🙄… they showed up, at closing time…

Looks good.
Now all youneedare bumpers (front and rear), roof rack for a tent, the tent, a winch, blindingly bright off-road lights, and an air compressor.
Oh, and a .50 cal Browning machine gun...

Yeah... think besides what I'm doing right now, just gonna keep it pretty mild since it's my daily.

It is on the 5th perch... are you suggesting 5th perch isn't a great ride? Too much preload? I figure I'll wait and see and make any adjustments once I've put some miles on the setup as-is.

I’m currently running OME 2721 coils in the rear. The front is set on the 5th perch gives a slightly nose high look. Current thought process: Back down to the 4th perch to bring the nose down. Secondary effect to that would be less preload on the coil, so a tad softer.
What’s odd to me is, the same setting on my 200 seems taller than what you are currently at. I’m on month 6 with this set up. There has been some “settling” and the ride has become more complaint over time. Could also be a placebo and I’m now used to it…

Fighting garage door opening constraints, going much higher in the rear is pushing it for me.

I’m at 3rd clip in front with 2721s in the rear

With drawers/tools/fridge the ride seems to be perfectly balanced. Spring rate wise

But I’m just about level, going to add 3/4 rear spacer and should be perfect

Because my buddy working on the 200 is a gatekeeping SOB (and he’s prob busy with other shiz), he sent me some “teaser” pics basically from all the angles I care about the least 😂 but really just to show the Nomad 504 +35 are “flush AF”

So an issue we ran into on Friday is that one of the 2 motors that came with the Amp Research running boards I found on FB Marketplace, and didn’t notice, is basically kinda fcuked… and when calling 10 different places including the manufacturer… it turns out this motor is discontinued with no superseding part number.

I called lots of places looking for motors on the shelf to no avail, did find one on Amazon but they wanted ~$500 for it (double what it used to cost)…

Turns out there are none available as replacement motors however they are included with a couple different full step kits, and Brandon jumped on his distributor website and found a kit that was scratch and dent that contained 4 x new motors.

Went ahead and ordered em, and will easily sell a couple (along with my used working one) and certainly recoup most of the money.

In the meantime, while we wait for it to ship, gonna secure the passenger side up so I can put some miles on this bish this week…

But since this rig is more likely to go Moe’s Southwest Grill than Moab… these steps are pretty darn sweet. Puddle lights and all.
Passenger motor hopefully coming soon.

So I kept looking, wanting a setup that looked stuffed but that had minimal rubbing issues, that low COG look…

I was open to a small lift, as long as it improved the ride in some way, definitely wanted 34s because they seemed the least invasive, while stuffing the wheel wells…

And then I came across @Knowbuddy ’s rig and I’ll be honest, this picture, along with the Nomad video here… and I found what I was gonna do. I don’t like to recreate the wheel (no pun intended)…

Where is the build thread for this rig?
