most likely, the front axle will be moved forward 4" when i do the springover/shackle reversal. main body tub will move forward about 3" to fit the distance to the front clip.

I am interested to see how this project is going to turn out. Are you going to do a flatbed, a flatbed with fold down sides or have a regular bed on the back?

this is my vision for a finished truck. without the hardtop.

Its different and I like it. That should be a pretty sweet rig once it gets completed.

Geeze, are you trying to make me look bad. I have had my 40 project in the garage for about a year now - and your new project looks more done than mine. I did have a wrench day with my son last week, but we are still working on the axles...

we had to drop the transmission for the sale of the flywheel and clutch fork. here is Brock removing the driveshaft to help.:grinpimp:

tubing bender

by the way, i have the steel to make the cab of this body. but i need a tubing bender. a pipe bender with 1" square dies will work for this part, but i am considering making my own roll cage for it eventually, and that really needs a proper tubing bender. anyone have one or know where i can buy one fairly inexpensive? (i know, tubing bender and inexpensive don't really go together) have you seen the price of dies? about $350 for 1 tubing size! thanks,

jdsquared tubing bender is very affordable. The dies will kill you though. Larry has one, btw. Manual ones need a solid mount to the ground, could be an issue for you.

that's what i was finding. $300 for the bender, $350 for each size die you need. so far that's 2. a grand total of $1000.:bang:

i know Larry has one. i recall that he didn't have any size die i need. i may have to just gradually collect dies.:meh:

Yep, the gauntlet has been thrown down. Well, maybe... depends on whether or not Jon actually drives to the meeting or not...

Not exactly the way you are doing yours, but inspirational nonetheless.

I know a guy w/a bender: he recently exo'd his 80, and made rack sliders for me. Should be back in town next week...

he used a pipe bender and doesn't have square dies(I asked). i need a tubing bender for the roll cage, they are different. thanks though! i think i'll have the square tubing taken care of soon thanks to Sy and Paul.
