I've always thought a slide out U shaped bracket from the underside of a roofrack would be pretty slick and then just clip a nylon curtain around it. You could even build it so you could stake the bottom down. That way you have a secure mount for the shower head and the whole thing is fairly sturdy.

Dude if chicks:princess: want a shower from my rig then the only way there getting one is in the buff. Thats the whole reason to have the heat exchanger and shower unit.:D

I wonder what mrs. reffug will have to say about that one:D

Used two different shower enclosures the past several years. The last one we bought, the Cabela's model on top, works perfectly. No complaints.

Hey Doug

I have the Cabelas unit and i like it.

Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
-Simple Setup
-Sturdy Construction
-Cool Features such as towel holder and mesh pockets inside
-Mesh Floor
-Cheap
-Taller Then Most (i am 6'3" and fit it in fine!)

Cons:
-Comes with a complete piece of s*** sun shower setup, that wont even hold the water once its full, the area where the nozzle attaches is a soft rubber and once the pressure is on it from the weight of the water it falls off, completely retarded design

-Even when folded down and put into its bag, it is a fairly heavy and bulky package

I would recommend this unit IF used with a different shower source then the one it comes with! Makes for a great porta crappa or changing room!

Doug, the girls are just going to have to "butch up" abit. I will admit that this attitude does not win very many friends. The manly part said, here are my two cents.

As far a showers go, I would look into just using a large tarp as a screen. You can build a top frame out of PVC or such and let the tarp just fall. Since you have the water heater in the car that limits you to near the vehicle. This enclosure could just hang off the side of your roof rack. Another thing is you could tell the wimin to just wear a bathing suit and get cleaned up on the back side of the vehicle. As far as flooring goes. When I set up a solar shower, I just collect a bunch of flat rocks and try to set up in an area that doesn't have a buch dirt. Be sure to have a chair handy.

Besides, you can come clean and stop blaming the girls. We all know that you are a bashful and don't want people to see you really wear pink panties.

last summer I bought a cheapo shower/potty tent from Kmart (I think it was 30.00). it is small probably 3' square, but tall. it was a total PIA to set up too. where we like to camp in the High Sierras along highway 88 you have to have something to get away from the mosquitos when you do your business. I think I will get the second Cabelas unit, it looks like it is real easy to set up.

being the cheap bastid that i am i just put together a PVC frame and hang a large tarp from it with shower curtain rings. i can either use the legs or hang the hoop from a tree, couple stakes in the ground and its good to go.

Norcal-CLC uses the Cabela's one. The thing we liked was the shelves & gear rack inside. Setup is real simple. Just what we have used, we enjoy & use it at every event we goto!

I have this one for day trips when we're not camping overnight..

It sets up really quick but it isn't that great when it's windy

For longer trips I use this one as privy/shower..

It takes a moderate effort of one person to set it up.. It also handles wind better than the outback privy.. the shower bag that came with it can be useful and gets warm after an hour or so in the sun.. but in order to get decent water flow out of it, an adult will probably need to sit down.. I've only used its shower bag once though..

I've used the first three shown in this thread, and all are good. I own the top one and has never blown over. I have my own hot shower device so I can't endorse the shower bag.

The floor thing does become an issue after a week. Soap scum and hair. No floor is better. A wood platform is good, especially on cold mornings when you set up the shower on a metal-decked car trailer.
