Google is smoking something.
I was showing 3 hours 52 minutes to the gas station in map-quest from my house going through Wickenburg. We will have a 4 to 5 hour drive to our camp from the Colorado river but remember we change time zone in California and we should have a little extra daylight.
There's a reason I don't lead trips.

I'm not too worried as much of the road should be easy. But still a lot of miles the first day on dirt. Camp site is one of the better ones based on what I saw.

Ron and Matt. Please post up some ideas for the pork sammiches and beans if we need out her things like buns, chips, coleslaw etc.
Steve and Pete, please let us know what is needed for our hot dog and burger night. Ron should bring the grill, maybe we can get Steve to haul it in his pickup.
Jason and Cleo if you want to bring black bean burgers or vegetarian hot dogs please do so.

I have two votes for Hebrew National dogs - so unless there is a flood of complaints I will pick up four packages of these:

These soy chorizos are hot dog shaped - should I get a few packages for the vegans?
I will have some tortillas to wrap dogs in (assuming they all wern't et on Mexican Night)- if any of y'all need buns ya might want to bring 'em.
And lastly - is the CSC grill on a trailer? If so I will be happy to tow it. If not I can probably strap it into the back somewhere.

I got the burgers and burger buns. I'm also looking to bring a small grill that can cook 4 to 6 burgers at once.
I have 2 different kinds of bbq sauce. If someone wants to bring coleslaw and some buns/rolls that would be great. I was also planning to bring some homemade salsa and chips for mex night.

I believe the detour is still recommended but as phil mentioned it was not really un-passable. I think we should look at it, but it may just be easier to take the detour.
I have to check in with the NPS 24 hours before we enter and I will verify any detours or closures at that time, there is also mention of the soda lake maybe needing a detour if this next weather front brings rain in the mountains.
Weather for the beginning Needles , middle Cima and end Baker. Looking very pleasant for camping and travels across the desert.
I did the Paiute Hill route last March, ignoring the detour signs. We got a Sportsmobile through no problem, too. Things can change, but it was a non-issue. Soda Lake when wet, however, is a detour to heed.

What's the campfire situation looking like? Arr we going to have enough wood/campfire for dutch oven cooking? Ron, what's your plan?

Inside the park we can have a fire if we bring the wood and we collect the ash to carry out. I surest charcoal for Dutch I've, and gas campfires for ambiance.
