Gotta reply to this thread:

Is there something really collectable about those old jacks? I realize just spending time in the MUD zone signifies us as warped, but who in the heck has that kind of time and $$ to spend on something that nobody really uses in time of need? Has anybody ever used an OEM jack? I am POSITIVE I've taken a few to the dump.

I'm a bit jealous if you can't tell, not only of the lovely jack and tools, but of the time it took to produce them. Good work.

Some people want a period correct jack for a restoration. For someone looking to buy a mint cruiser having all the bits and pieces adds a heck of a lot more value to the cruiser than a restored jack would cost. The tools are even more desirable.

Of couse we are not talking sub 30k cruisers either.

Drool.............................

Bag is not correct, but makes a good stand in.

Krylon had a color that was a dead match to the original color, I bought a case a while back on line. It is called "Old equipment yellow" I can no longer find it as it was discontinued.

This one was taken apart, tanked and then sand blasted. Internally greased and re assembled and painted and then baked at 150 for an hour. The decal is a reproduction of the original and also mine.

Tools were glass beaded and re-plated in clear zinc.

Do you happen to have any of those krylon cans around? Krylon still lists the "old equipment yellow" on their website. mfg number is 1819 and is now called old cat yellow. just wondering if you could look for a color number on one of those cans to confirm it.

I went over to NAPA and got a can. Said "Old Equipment Yellow" on it. I'll double check tonight though.

I have all the bits for the jack, handles, etc.
I re did all, including having ocdbeetle make me some new straps to hold down the bag under driver seat. And I have shanes sticker as well. If someone wants to pay me that kind of loot.
:meh:

SOR and Toyota sells the updated Brown jack......I have a new one.

I use a brown one because the PO misplaced all the original stuff. Below is an unrestored yeller one with the narrow top. Still have the underseat anchors for the jack and tool bag but I think the black rubber band was replaced at some point as it seems way too new to be 30 years old. Maybe it's a vacuum cleaner belt?

AATLASIX - Do you sell a sticker for this style of jack?

Also, does anyone know where my tool bag came from. It just holds a lug wrench, hubcap spoon, and a jack handle and fits the underseat strap pretty well. You could probably fit a screw driver and pliers as well but it would get a bit tight. I found it laying on the ground in a junk yard maybe a dozen years ago. They didn't charge me.:D

Can you get just the handle? That and the pliers are all I'm missing from my tool kit I think, well I could use a new bag as well. Mine has some age holes.

Shane or others, what does the sticker say? I just realized the other night that the top part of the jack screws up another 2" or so from the base. I think the sticker has a warning about how to properly use the jack and not over-extend it...

I spent a couple days scraping and cleaning my jack I got off of MUD here - hopefully will be getting it into color once it stops being 0 degrees F and snowing around here!

BTW there was on on Craigslist a few days ago going for $40, so yeah they're kinda rare but you can find them for a decent price. Mine was $50 and included the brackets that the rods snap in to...

...can anybody post pictures of how the jack body/tool bag are supposed to mount under the seat in a mid-late 70s FJ40? I don't think I have any of that bracketry for mine, but there are some holes in the floorboard that I would suspect serve that purpose (no they're not rust holes, though I do have some of those too :D)...

thats the one i just bought. it is in pretty good shape however i think it the later one. didnt the real early ones have "TEQ" instead of the "TOYOTA MOTOR" on them?

Good find! Hopefully you're refurbishing it like me? I was hoping it would go to a Cruiserhead...

anyway I thought all these early style jacks were the same, wasn't aware that some might have had "TEQ" stamped on them. I thought they all said "TOYOTA MOTOR." Later style jacks in the context of this thread are stamped metal, usually brown, with no significant markings. At least I think.

Hey fellas. I picked up one of the neat old jacks today from a cool dude here in Oregon. I have noticed that the screws in this one are different than the Philips head you guys have posted. This one has Flat Driver button head screws. I knoticed that there is one on ebay right now with the same flat head screws.

Do the Screws indicate a year difference? It still has the TEQ logo and the number 09110-35011. Sorry the Photos are bad Res.

SHANE....Does your Sticker reproduction belong on this model? It looks like the lip where it belongs is narrower than the model you have it on. Am I wrong?
