Possible upgrades to 5-6-8 speed auto

I have an A750F out of a 2003 land cruiser in my garage so I am very interested in this. When I was reading about 2uz swaps I believe that I read that the only A750F that will bolt up to an 80 series t-case is out of the 100 series.
 
Beno maybe you can check and see if there was a seperate tcu for the A750F? I am not seeing much detail on how it works on the Internet. If it doesn't this might be a dead horse for us. Lol
 
Sometimes I wouldn't mind ditching the 5 speed manual for a 5 speed auto..pretty interested to know if this is doable.
Not sure how though since I don't have an ecu at all .:D

"Mate, why would anyone in their right mind swap an auto box for a manny? Makes as much sense as swapping out leather for cloth."

So I asked him what inventory he had of cloth seats.....


I'm pretty sure the '07-'09 GRJ-120s have a seperate TCM, but don't think it matters as complex as the communications are, like an electronic a Capella arrangement.

There's some way of this working, since they're swapping H151Fs for A750Fs behind the 1VD-FTV in using a stand alone TCM without issue in Oz.

BUT, question the reasoning....

It's called lazy c*nt syndrome :flipoff2:..but honestly I don't think I could do away with my manual, it's just at certain times an auto would be nice.

One would assume sufferers of said syndrome would appreciate an active stick....

1FZ-FE is happy in front of three transmissions, the only non-computerized variation the H151F, and the only reason preferred, on a particular endeavor is the lack of TCU.

Otherwise, I prefer auto, too, as it's easier to piddle with the stick. :)
 
Very cool thanks for the PDF. Actually reading that I am more sure it would be a possibility to use the A750F behind the 1FZFE, you would have to use a separate trans controller but there are a lot of unnecessary functions that would be unused. Like the anti-squat feature (I don't care if the vehicle squats when I shift into drive with my foot on the brake) the AI-learning function, Flex lock up control, and really if you are using a separate TCU you wouldn't need a 2nd start button. The only tricky part would be getting the timing cut before the shifts going to have to think about that.

But that PDF gives you all the solenoid positions for every gear! Would just be a matter of finding a trans controller with 5 solenoid controls and a line pressure control. This is also important because I would want to change the shift points if I raise the redline. Promising.
 
HAHA!!! Compushift already has controls for A761/750.

SO yes I would say you could swap the A750F onto the 1FZFE, and use the compushift to control it. Cool. :)
 
There are no computers per se for the A750F in the UZJ100.

That said, there are a number of network systems that rely on each other for correct operation:

According to the FSM there are no fewer than 12 different integrated computer systems/signals that the transmission relies on for correct operation:

1. Transmission control relay
2. Network control gateway computer
3. Engine Control Unit (ECU)
4. Shift Lock Control Computer
5. Throttle Position sensor
6. Throttle position motor and lever
7. Engine temp sensor
8. Key interlock computer
9. 2 transmission control switches
10. A transmission wire bundle that includes all of the solenoid integrated into the wire assy.
11. Pattern select control switch.
12. 2 different revolution control sensors.


Seems rather daunting to me... then again I don't have an EE or a CE nor am I knowledgeable in any of the areas necessary to get a transmission to "talk" to the engine.
 
You wouldn't have to get the trans to talk to the engine you could run that transmission off the standalone tcu just like the Cummins guys are running the A343F.

According to the SAE White Paper, the case itself is the same length as the A343F case.

The only differences are that the case is made to receive many different configuration bell housings as well as many configuration adaptor cases on the tail side so that different xfers can be hung off of it.

Hence why the UZJ100 gear driven case as well as the Tundra/4Runner/FJC chain driven cases can be hung off of it.
 
And because of all the vehicles it came in it's way easier to get then a h151f and all the manual bits right?

Although after my manual swap I swear I'll never put another autobox in one of my cruisers, but a 1fzfe/a750 might be tolerable if the power gains are that high.
 
I dunno Matt. Probably relative.

But you really would need one from a Land Cruiser application.

Then you would need a bell housing since the 1FZ never came with an A750F in this market or any other for that matter. That would need to be a custom application.
