The Thursday 3pm is full but the Thursday 11am is open for 3 vehicles. According to the attendant, everyone is signed up for the 3pm but no one on the 11am.

Whew. That would be early heading out from Raleigh. Let me think on it.

I'm on the 11am departure and the 3:45pm return. I figure 4 hours from the house to the ferry. The early arrival will give me plenty of time to hoon around on the beach. I'll try and make some gymkhana videos.

I'm on the 3pm on the way over. Returning at 3:45 on Sunday.
I'm planning to be camping. But if a spot in cabin 16 opens, I'd like to slide in there.
Looking forward to it!

Opening in cabin 15

@AndrewHadji are you going to get the truck back in time for this trip?

Got the 1:00pm Friday slot for the ferry and Laura got work off. Need to arrange a day off work for that Friday now and if I can, I'm golden.

EDIT. I'm golden. Will be there Friday Nov 11th with Laura.

I moved to Friday the 11th at 1pm as well. With leaving the house at 6am, we didn't have anyone to drop the kids off at the bus stop Thursday morning. It puts me on the island a little later than expected.

Has anyone checked routes to see if any roads are still closed from the hurricane? I know we are several weeks past, but just trying to consider what's going on down east.

I have seen in past pics there could be water crossing (or maybe that is STR). Should I make sure my diff breathers are extended before this trip?

Good idea. Someone should look into that. We might also need to watch for gas shortages.

Yes, the road to the village was over axle-depth the last time we took it. I couldn't find a good pic of the depth but here's Johnny's video from 2014.

Yep that's the one I was thinking.
Going to do that this weekend. Seen a few people document it so it doesn't seem to difficult.
On the bright side, I wired up my dual battery yeaterday! Will finish fuse block, fridge, and homemade awning (thanks Izzy for the idea) this coming weekend.

Well its official im out, body work is starting next week and im waiting on a rear bumper to come in for it.
Booo. You'll be missed Andrew.

I'm extending my breathers this weekend. Are you thinking of putting yours up into the engine bay?

Yeah, there is a portion of US70 near Kinston that is closed, but only westbound from what I can tell. It doesn't look like the main route from Raleigh, at least the one I'd be taking, has any major closures other than that. Has anybody heard or seen different?

I'm thinking front to the engine bay. Rear to the driver side quarter panel.
