I've owned too many British cars to ever buy anything that requires DC electric from the UK. :) That bumper is very slick though.

Cool rig, I think I'll start being jealous now. I have really come to love the styling of the 60/62 series. I like keeping it close to stock, look forward to seeing where it goes.

So, what you are saying - is that the Direct Current on a standard vehicle battery from Britain is different in the United States?

No, I am saying that the equipment I've had from the UK that uses DC is junk. Anyone that has owned a product from British Leyland knows what I am talking about.

Sorry - I misunderstood -A little witty banter is always good to get the blood flowing in the am - :) Yes I have to agree as a rule of thumb that having owned many British cars myself - I tend to agree with that statement. However DC motors are generally considered to be well made in Britain, as they are relatively simple devices. Now would i buy a British computer? Heiall Nao! - For the record - I wouldn't spend 10k on a winch anyway, I just thought they looked cool. I have no affiliation with the company whatsoever.

I think @GLTHFJ60 is probably the only person that thinks I'M FULL OF $H!T when I say I'm gonna keep the rig as stock as possible... He's been with me through thick and thin on several of my builds... HA! (like 4-5 now)

Pending if my EE gets the Yota harness complete and functional.... not sure if I will drop the 5.7 TC'd Tundra engine into this rig or another 60.

You must be terribly self self confident to admit you've owned "too many" British cars....usually it just takes one

Lucas the Prince of Darkness

  • Not many people know that Land Rovers attempted to market a computer. Why did they stop? They could not find a way to get it to leak oil!
  • A Land Rover doesn´t leak oil, it marks it´s territory. Did you hear about the man whose Land Rover didn't leak oil? The factory took it backand worked on it until it did.
  • Did you hear the one about the guy that peeked into a Land Rover and asked the owner "How can you tell one switch from another at night? They all look the same. " - "He replied, "It does not matter which one you use, nothing happens !"
  • The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
  • Lucas is the patent holder for the short circuit.
  • Lucas - Inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
  • Lucas - Inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
  • The three position Lucas switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.
  • The Original Anti-Theft Device - Lucas Electrics.
  • >Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices
  • Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.
  • "I have had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never had any trou..."
  • If Lucas made guns, wars would not start.
  • A friend of mine told everybody he never had any electric problems with his Lucas equipment. Today he lives in the countryside, in a large manor with lots of friendly servants around him an an occasional ice cold shower...
  • Back in the 70's, Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which did not suck.
  • Q: Why do the British drink warm beer? A: Because Lucas makes their refrigerators
  • Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone.Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb. Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
  • Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: Check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times clockwise around your car chanting:" Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.."

I am sitting here laughing, thank you. So very true. I loved my Austin Healys but my god they were a PIA when it came to keeping them on the road. My first, a 69 would just die going down the road, every electrical circuit off. I would pull over, stand up, if the top was down, and pound on the cowl in front of the passenger seat. Poof electric was back. I ran a lot of new circuits in that car. I was 18 and did not care, it was a blast to drive.

yes, so Jason, being such a good guy and assuming the best in people, we need to mess with him ....I think the Brits are just getting us back for
the 1776 thing...I'll bet Rovers work perfectly in England.....

All I know is my Rover runs great. Rovers aren't for the weak at heart or an incompetent lazy owner. If you can read, understand what regular maintenance is and can turn wrenches... WELL... they are a good unit. However, if you neglect them... they will OWN YOUR A$$!
