I'm actually on your side. You need to get a second, clapped out truck to go crazy on. I picked up just such a 40 today...F motor, 3 on the tree
( that actually shifts perfect ) front bench..even the rear step. I drove it around...it was so ghetto and so great...do I cut it?, restore it...
i don't know yet

Its hard when you find a decent cruiser. I need another good ole roached out 60 to make a truck out of..

STILL ON MY TOP 5 PRIORITY LIST!

I'll watch out here. We're rust free. I had two perfect rolling chassis' I couldn't get rid of that I finally cut up in the last seven years.
I ran a Craigslist add for one for six months. It was completely there minus engine, tranny and transfer. I dropped down to 200.00
and the only serious inquiry I got was a guy in L.A that asked if I would deliver it for that price.....out came the sawsall

Roller would be perfect for me.

I was looking at the tan one in east tucson, the only issue I see with it is having to source all of the exterior trim, interior, etc. Non-running rust free 60s are pretty rare but they are out there and can be had for around $1k.

I'm in the same boat as you Jason, I want to build a UTE type 60 kinda like Georg @ Valley Hybrids built a few years back. They just looks so Bad A!

Yeah. Long way to haul it. If you talk to the dude or dudette and have an interest I can go give it a look this weekend. In NW New mexico right now till Friday night

It will be a LONG weekend when it all comes together. Clutch, rear seal, oil pan gasket, new slave, u-joints, full suspension, and new tires... OF COURSE AS ALWAYS... a plethora of pics to follow... HA!

Jason since you're an ole pro at this and a lot of guys follow your thread, and there are items on your to-do list that a lot of guys will eventually need to be doing for the first time, like clutch and pan gasket and RMS etc, it would be great when you post pics of the process to include the juiciest of valuable tips that make installation easy.

You know, like tranny installation tricks/techniques, the fine particulars that make installing a pan gasket easier, etc. etc.

Although this type of info can be found scattered all over Kingdom Come on Mud, it would be great if you could include the tech tips along with the pics.

Poppy could be a one stop tech shop.

Although many of the guys following Poppy are experienced cruiser wrenchers with decades of experience, many lurkers are not.

I think Poppy's thread could serve as a great centralized spring board for many first time stock 60 owners who want to spruce up their truck a bit but are overwhelmed at the prospect.

Anyway, it kind of seems like a great opportunity to me...

Threadless Fred.

Output Shaft is correct. One stop shopping thread well detailed could be a valuable source for pros and lurkers, most of us in between somewhere. You know your stuff. And the rest of us know that. BTW..I predict a whole different kind of Green River winter than last one. Better make sure that shop heater is top notch, maybe being your number one build

I'll do the best I can guys, I promise.. My main problem is that once I get in a groove... I look up and 5 hours has past and it feels like 15 minutes. It will be easier this go around as I will be using my buddies lift and for the first time EVER, I won't be doing everything from my back on a concrete or dirt floor..

May slow me down being new territory and all.

T, MY PREDICTION.... AN EXTREMELY COLD WINDY B!TCH THIS YEAR!

Shop heater stays at 55F on a normal basis.. AND I frequently open the doors to COOL IT OFF and let the SMOKE OUT! Gotta remember 30F is shorts and T-shirt weather for me here.. OH and add a hooded sweatshirt if I have to stay out more than an hour or two.
