...The standard M90 oil service spec is rotors facing down, unit level, fill to bottom of plug hole.

Dan, if you are at 60k, I'd definitely at least ck the fluid. There is conflicting opinion on changing fluid (most think it's not necessary). IMO, with a hard to service unit like the TRD, I'd do a swap, not just a fill

I'm at 60K on mine as well, didn't think about this until this thread popped up (again?). Now I'm anxious to get it done!

It doesn't look too involved just to pull off the SC, Remove the belt, 4 bolts to the plenum, 4 bolts and a hose to the T/B.

What I'm not clear about is what does "rotors facing down" mean? I think it means, plenum side flat on the bench, SC level, oil level at the bottom of the threads.

Since this is a revived thread, has anybody done this since January? Post pics and process if you have it, that'd be cool.

Then reinstall with FIPG, right?

Thanks, Dan.

I called local GM dealer, and its about $8+ for 4oz. Does it sound right? Someone mentioned about $40 per bottle.

Like $40 bucks for less than 2oz. :o

So... What IS supercharger oil?

I'm at the point on my head gasket, new cooling system, snorkel, coated headers, new exhaust extravaganza where I should be installing the SC on Saturday.

1. Should we check the oil level on the SC before installation?
2. What kind of oil does it take? No, really, what is in the bottle?
3. How much oil does it need?

That is for the Japanese factory superchargers, not The Eaton unit in the 80.

GM dealers carry the Eaton oil under the part number 12345982. It comes in a 4 oz container.

So... Should I open the fill plug on my brand new TRD supercharger to check the level or would it just be a silly waste of time? It isn't installed yet. We have it dry fitted finger tight right now while we are waiting on the manifolds to come back from jet coating so we could extend the wiring and all that.

So... If it is something to be concerned over, it would be easy to check now. These come factory charged/filled with oil, right?

I just talked to my dad, who works at Magnussen, and he said that you never have to change the oil and that it should not need top off unless there is a seal leak, which you should fix. the $8 per bottle price is the right price. If there is a Buick dealer closer to you than a GM dealer, they should have it as well.

Dan...can you share with us how many of these units you guys have sold since teh new batch came out?

X2 I was wondering the same thing. When I bought mine from Am. Toyota I was supposedly #9 on 8/5/08.

So that is how you had inside info on the new S/C release.

at least nine up to 8/5/08. Not bad but I imagine that pace will slow once most of those who thought that they missed the boat get theirs. I think that the foreign market is big on these, especially in the Middle East. don't mean to hijack here

14.....

nice...

I'm actually kind of surprised it isn't more.

How many are left on the warehouse shelf?
How many did we start off with in the US this batch?

I was considering getting a 2nd one if the 1st one works out well. Trying to gauge the time I have left to make that decision.

from what I understand, this batch is selling pretty good overall. I wouldn't wait more than a couple of more months.

The beginning number was ~100, there are 35 in depot stock at the moment.
