Did a little search and the consensus in the 40/55 Tech section seems to pull towards the plastic. Realizing that the "grenade" factor and loose motor mounts contribute to the ruinization of the rad, it got me to wondering how many of you have replaced your metal fan and gone with plastic. Not really a poll but want to get advice from those of you who have made this change. Or should I not let it worry me? Oh and as a last question.....are the plastic blades available from NAPA, Autozone etc or will I have to order this special? Thanks all, Dave

Agreed. I have no current issues so maybe I should just not sweat this then. I was just thinking about my rad and the cost of repair/re-core but maybe I think too much;p

Things to consider for all pig owners...after my initial search I wanted a short thread title for anyone contemplating this issue to have the pros and cons. Thanks, Dave

After 2 rads and fabbing in a 62 rad, I am going electric in my 55

1st flexing out with RPMs and hit?

2nd DEEP water crossing, apparently the water pulled the plastic fan forward (propeller) into the rad?

Now I put a FJ62 rad in... its thicker and taller, under flex and RPMs it can hear/see marks where they fondle each other

On the cheap I would say metal = no flex? I dont remember much temp diff if any between the two?
