Is there a common aftermarket replacement for the fan blades for an F155 engine, or is this an SOR only part?
After pulling out the radiator on my 69 fj55 for the third time this month, I noticed one of my fan blades is cracked at the base. I've already experienced a flying fan blade through the skid plate under the front end, and don't want that to happen again. The blade went halfway through the skid plate, imagine that flying the other way with the hood open.

I'm sure you can get one used from someone with a blown F engine around here. That would be the simplest route.

By the way, anyone know the OEM color code for the F engine fan?

metal fan is black I think. But swap to a plastic.........even Mark hates the metal fans ;)

I have my metal fan blade off my '72 "F" engine you can have. Good condition, no cracks I can see.

Whatever it's worth to you + some shipping.

Jody.

But I hate plastic. Cause I can't fix it.

Black it is. Does the plastic fan pull more? Do all of the fans have the same four bolt pattern?
And Outback, if the local wrecking yard doesn't have the fan on their 55, I'll hit you up. This wrecking yard is pretty wierd about their almost completely stripped fj55. I've stripped it pretty well, but now "some guy in Long Beach" let them know how desirable this type of vehicle is a for a few. Now they won't even let me look at it.

Free for the cost of shipping here too. I've NEVER sold one, and wouldn't want it on my conscience that I ever did. Most dangerous thing to ever be bolted onto a landcruiser [close runner up: delco dizzy]

Plastic fans rule!

Interesting, my steel fan on the '66 is orange. I always assumed that it was original.
Its not all bad since it wont flex as much when it starts slapping water. I'd change it for a fan clutch style plastic fan though if theres one to fit the old waterpump

My original fan on my FJ40 was orange, too.

You can have mine for the cost of shipping...I think it's orange.
I picked up a fj55 plastic replacement from Profitt's Cruisers :D

I find that there is a safety measure in having them orange. It is just easier to remember they are there in that color.

Orange on most but black on a few wierd ones. Plastic fixed fan is out there for a few years. Best option is a later model WP and a clutch fan. Also most expensive. I like the metal fans but they call me leftie!

Mine was black and I just repainted it black. It looks very purdy. :D
Mark, do those fancy plastic fans pull more air?

Yes. The 8 blade direct drive is DEAFENING! Sounds like the friggin UPS truck coming down the street.

It would be cool if someone in the know would post up the part #'s from Toyota.

interesting, I think I have an orange fan someplace, figured someone painted it.

even my fully restored 45LV has a plastic fan.......and I snuck a gear reduction starter on it :)

Well, I'll tell you how loud that 8blade plastic one is, I ordered one for $28. If my fan was ever any color than black, it had all of the paint removed before repainting. Also, I've already dealt with the flying fan blade of death when I first got my cruiser. Before I even tried to drive it, that sucka went flying. If it could go through that metal plate under the radiator, imagine what it could do to a mechanic. When I ordered a used one from SOR, it was also black.
