stopped by ron's (rmc) on the way home from the junkyard today to find him doing some work on this beauty. has some issues on body work and some bondo, but still a beautiful rig! someone loved this one. new owner isn't even a cruiserhead, just really likes the fj55s...what good taste.

For some reason no one ever paints that front vailence correctly. Pretty pig none the less.

Aren't they supposed to be painted like this?

here is my completely stock piggie. original paint and that front valance is red same as the lower portion of the body.

So that would make mine also correct. I think the problem is the headlight rings and the "Toyota" lettering on the original picture in this thread is incorrect.

My grill from the factory was gray, with the area behind the Toyota blacked out as well. Yours is red? Are you sure it isn't rust? :D

I think we can all agree about the blacked out area behind the 'Toyota' but the actual color of the grill is debatable. USM has the primary vehicle color, whereas mine is gray, and Cruiser Guy has the accent color.

My 1970 was red and white from the factory, same color as USM's but with a gray grill. I wonder if it depends upon the years, and how they did things at the factory, similar to the fact that there is no standard radio antenna mounting location.

Actually the grille on my truck IS gray and blacked out behind the word "Toyota". It's tough to see in this picture because of the lighting.

The valance is also split with white on the upper half and the color on the lower half.

My '74 has a hole in the pass fender for antenna - looks factory. No?

Maybe, but when you look at the picture of mine a couple of posts higher you can see the antenna on the "A" pillar. I ordered it from the dealer for a '76.

Mine is a factory punched hole on the PS fender skirt. Some are DS, and some are in other locations. In production environments, especially back then, "good enough for who it's for" occasionally happens.
