As we were setting up for the night, a tasty 70 series just appeared out of nowhere!
It was a Proffitts Resurrections restoration, and this thing was clean...

We tried to tour the cemetery at Galena, but they were holding a funeral, so that changed our plans.
No pictures.
Then it was time for Ron and Jeri to head east.
Edgar had a wheel bearing that was failing, so it was time for him to split off from the group as well

We headed north and east to Sturgis to the Bear Butte Lake campground. Here we lost our guides, Dan and Mike. Monday morning duties were calling!
It started raining as we said goodbye to Dan and family and started looking for sites.
I looked at the weather, looked at my watch, and decided to make the drive home.
So I said goodbye to Jim and Bonnie and Gordo, and the boy and headed west and south.

Until next year...

Today I followed the Louis and Clark and the Missouri river to its head water in North Dakota.. Saw a fort (rebuilt) and a basic museum. Then started back west through the center of ND. Tried for a campsite in Medora ND but not the kind of luck as last nite so managed to snag a hotel room. That town is a zoo.

Heading back to the Black Hills in hopes of finding some more quiet camping in the coming days or get lost trying.

Sorry didn’t have my camera hat on today but here is what I saw a lot of along with corn fields and cows:rofl:

Ha ha! Lots of rain and mud!
The weather was just about perfect, not too hot, not too cold.
Not too rainy, not too dusty...

You got pretty far north and east! Awesome adventures!

Since PP 21 has 2 weekends involved I figure the mid week section is related by default.

Last nights Medora camping was a bust, total tourist overload. I knew there was something in the area not on the T shirt radar but it was late in the afternoon and I was shot.

New day. Headed south on 85. 15 miles down the road I found a road going into the Little Missouri National Grass Land. Spent a couple of hours exploring. Found two great campgrounds, one was the one I couldn’t find the entrance to the night before, both could have been accessed from Medora.

Since it was still early in the day I wanted get further down the road. I found Bowman lake 20 miles south of the 3 street town of Bowman ND. Camps with no electric sites around the lake are separated from each by a 1000 feet or more. With trees, rolling terrain and the fact that it’s 90% unoccupied you don’t even know there is even anybody around.

Needless to say it’s home for the night. Again bad picture hat day but here goes
