Finally some updated pics ;p
It sits a bit higher & wider in the rear since the last driveway shots. I didn't feel like messin w/ the roof rack this time. I think it looks  w/o it.
Damn that looks good Chuck!!! Gotta get by and see'r again!!

Update!

I still have a few small details to wrap up, like the exhaust. I bought a stainless muffler a while back & finally got around to installing it. I was going to do a full stainle$$ exhaust, but I gotta get this thing running again, so I'll just order up some aluminized tubing & paint it w/ POR15.

Yeah, I know it's kinda ricer-ish, but it was the cheapest stainless muffler I could find at the time, half the cost of a Borla, which I run on my '73. I got all my tubing ordered & should begin welding it up this weekend.

I got the front section snaked above the skid & welded up. I've got the rear tubes cut & fitted, just need to weld those up. I made sure to order all curved tubes mandrel bent so even if I cut in the bend, the mating tubes will not be distorted & even all around.

I finished up the exhaust. The 1st pic shows the tubing very close to the link tower, but the curved tube is actually angled rearward, so it's really about 2" away from the tower & the shock body. I decided to try some POR20 on all the tubing since it's heat resistant:

Nice exhaust setup. Did you do any breaks to make pulling the exhaust "easy"?

That was one of the minor complaints I had with the exhaust in my pig.

I see you used a flex joint in your exhaust. Any previous experience with them?

The exhaust is built in two pieces. It's really easy to dismantle & remove. Now, getting to the inner bolts at the header flange was a :bang: using extensions w/ ujoints to help. I feel the flexhose is necessary or you'll end up cracking the gasket at the header flange when the engine flexes & the muffler is hardmounted to the body. I didn't run a flexhose in my 40 & that's what happened. I've since installed one in that rig. I see your at the point of exhaust install in you build. You doing it all yourself?

There's POR 20 now? Is that from the makers of POR 15?

Yes it is. I wanted to offset the all black underneath w/ another color, & since it's rated for 1400 deg. & corrosive resistant, I thought I'd give it a try. Plus it bakes on when the exhaust is heated the 1st startup. The regular black POR15 is rated for 600 deg. & I wasn't sure if it would get soft when heated & rub off when scuffed up against.

Hydro Fittings

I had a local shop convert my bump line fittings for the hydro boost unit & P/S pump to 6-AN fittings. My PSC steering box already had 6-AN fittings installed, so I'm covered there. These are reuseable fittings that'll let me make my own lines & field fix if one breaks on the trail. I still have to get some 45 & 90 deg fittings to complete it all.

Alt. & Harness:

I'm going to use a 140 amp Powermaster GM 1 wire alt. on this build. I decided to use the Premier Power Welder on another project. On the wiring harness, I didn't want to pay big $$$ for another Painless system, instead I opted for this Quik Wire system from  JT Outfitters.

I'm currently building a detachable winch mount for my trailer. I'll be using a Warn M6000, mounted on a receiver cradle, to pull this behemoth onto. Pics following soon....
