Do you also have the Slee wire harness with that? I wonder if there would be a good before and after with 4 9011 with and without harness.

Ditto what he said. ^^

9011's all the way around for a couple years now, and I never get flashed.

I can re-affirm, driving home from deer hunting last night, there's no better $100 mod for an 80 than this. One thing to think about though is the longevity may not be as great as a 9012 since your lows are on most of the time as opposed to highs not usually as much. Well worth it to me. You can't believe how far out you see deer eyes. :)

Yes I have the Slee harness. Money well spent too. I did the harness before swapping bulbs to all 9011(went with 9012/9011 first) so not sure on stock bulbs/stock harness vs stock bulbs/Slee harness, but I remember a noticeable improvement over stock wiring. Maybe in my head but I think it was worth it. Cheers.

So I got to see Rami's headlights last weekend and they're pretty impressive. So I went out and bought a set of the low beams, modified the little tab thingie with a dremel and threw them in. Tonight was the first time in the dark and all I can say is wow. I don't need my highbeams to see where I used to all the time.

They have a high admission price, but it's worth it IMO. Thanks Rami.

My right low beam (passenger) just quit.
So I ordered again the same thing.

So let's seeI bought it 11/04/10 and today is 2/17/12.
That makes is a little bit over one year.
Not very long.

If I bang on the light I get it back, until it quits again. Wonder what that means.

BTW I have the Slee harness.

I knock on the headlight from the outside and it turns on.
I can't see the harness being the cause.

I think the knock affect the bulb filament which then provide continuity. But I am not expert on this stuff.

I agree Rami...The stock PS bulb in my 80 would go out...A quick knock on the housing and it would work again for a bit. No Slee harness on the 80. I replaced the bulbs (all of them while I was in there) with Toshiba HIRs probably 2+ years ago now and haven't had a problem since...

I guess once my Toshibas burn out I'll give the Phillips bulbs a shot but that is disappointing that you only got about 15 months out of one of them :frown:

Yeh, the Toshiba HIR lasted almost three years than one went out and I replaced with the Philips. I ordered another two low beam so I can have a spare.

I received mine yesterday from Candlepower, high and low beams $100 plus free shipping. I noticed that all 4 bulbs were made in Germany, how long have the Philips been made in Germany, and where were they made before?

I've been using these HIRs since they were posted here some 5+ years ago. Agree great mod. A helpful hint on altering the edge of the low beam plastic tabs: Don't screw around with saws and dremels. I use wire cutters. Just use a marker and trace the part you want to remove, and put the wire cutters on the line and squeeze. It now takes me about 60 seconds to mod 2 bulbs with no dust cleanup, etc. IMPORTANTLY, I believe the sawing and extreme vibration directly on the bulb filament shortens bulb life dramatically. Do the wire cutter - snip, snip and you're done.

Don't forget to wipe the bulb with rubbing alchohol also, to avoid bulb life shortening from a contaminated bulb glass.

Just ordered 4 Phillips 9011's, I'm excited, though surprised that I can't order online with Slee!? They are shorting themselves on the money that could be made from those of us that need a breathalyizer on our debit cards... lol

I ordered last week, high's and low's $100 w/free shipping.

Anyone have the Philips part number for the latest 9012 bulbs ?
I have a set of Phillips 9012s I got through work and want to know if they are the latest version or not.
Thanks

Also, is the Slee harness required for this upgrade or just recommended ?

It depends on how much voltage drop you're getting. If you're getting a big drop, then it'll help, if you aren't, it won't.

Thanks, will do the drop test then but I guess for $45 it might just be cheap insurance.
