Just saw this at my local auto store and was curious if anyone had any info/used it/etc. It would be cheaper than Toyota branded coolant, but more importantly easier for me to obtain. I'll be replacing the radiator soon and needing a full flush/refill.

FWIW, you can buy the genuine AISIN Toyota coolant (ACT-002) for $14/gal from RockAuto, or $19 from Napa. I’ve been using the Pentosin 8115213 lately, which can also be bought from RockAuto for $15/gal or from O’Reilly for $20/gal.

I've been using Prestone coolant (green) for a while and it is amazing. I don't have a speck of rust after 5 years of continue use.

I think the top bolt 17 mm? located near the APPS on the throttle body is to remove air bubbles in the cooling system. I noticed that after completing a cooling system flush.

I had been using the Zerex Pink in my Tacoma and the 100 due to it being easy to purchase. All of a sudden it becomes difficult to find and Peak is on the shelves. Peak is more expensive than the prices I remember for Zerex.

I recently switched to Peak on the 100 during the last coolant system maintenance and flush. I understand Pink is Extended Life Coolant.

Usually, something comes up with maintenance and I find myself flushing coolant well before 5 years or 50,000 miles of use.

Info about Peak.

:hmm: What 17mm bolt (picture)?

The bolt I am pointing at. I saw Montero's have a bleeding valve/bolt at the top most location in the cooling system. The chamber attached to that bolt I am showing in the picture warms up with coolant running inside. The other end is attached to a hose which is connected to Oil cooler pipe in front of timing belt cover.

I recently replaced the throttle body on my 00 LC with 240K miles with an OEM new unit along with the new Denso radiator, Aisin Fan blade and OEM fan bracket.

That's your 2000?
Correct.

I saw you commented about high mileage motor oil. I don't use it, but wonder why it is special. Thanks!

I use Castrol Magnatec 5W-30.

I haven’t purchased Toyota pink SLL2 for a few years but it was around $16 a gallon 50/50 mix back in 2018

Wouldn’t expect it’s too much more - other than lack of convenience to go get it can’t think of any reason to use anything else

Damages rubber seals, with petroleum based seal modifier. After 2 changes w/HM in a row. Must use for life.

couple years ago I was in Car Quest and saw there was 6 or 7 different color antiboil.

I guess I'm old as I remember when all you could buy was green.
then it didn't work well with aluminium blocks so they came out with the red.
now there is orange, purple, blue, yellow etc

rant off.
