Since we're kind of on the subject but not really, my wife may be interested in an Audi. Briefly, what are your immediate thoughts on Audi

Audi has really come leaps and bounds over the last 7-10 years. In the past, I felt BMW's fit, finish, and overall quality was superior to Audi but now that's not the case, right up there with the top ringers. My only personal critique from a driver's point of view is that Audi's are so comfortable that there is a little disconnect in overall driving experience, like in a Lexus sort of way. But, I am one of those few people that still prefer rowing gears in a 3-pedalled car (old school). Would I buy another Audi? Yes, in a heartbeat. I dig them. Which model(s) does she specifically have her eye on?

My Diesel was a mid 80's truck

Problems:
1. Fuel Tank Ruptured
2. Brakes always pulled no matter what I did.
3. Truck had a death wobble
4. AC sucked
5. Was prone to rust
6. Lots of transmission issues
7. SLOW
SPENT OVER $12,000 ON REPAIRS IN 18 MONTHS. THIS WAS A CLEAN TRUCK!!!
It had 90K on it.

Mid 90's Gas Burner

1. Electrical issues with the lockers
2. AC sucked
3. It would still be slow if you drove it off a cliff
4. Mercedes would have to order parts that would take a month to get.
5. Got 8 mpg (do not really care but had to fill up two times a week, that is stupid)
6. Had a lean, ( dealer said they all lean to one side or the other???)
7. Fuel injection distributor
Had 120k on it when she left.

My dad is a Mercedes man for the past 40 years, he needed a SUV for his dogs and we looked at a new one, they looked nice and I had a talk with him. He is very happy in his Lexus now.

I think an A 4 but not sure if she even knows. My problem is I know less than nothing about them....no idea what a good price is, no idea how to repair even the little things, etc.

I love Lexus realiablity but just find them boring. I think the newer Gwagons are much more realiable and have really strong warranties. The 2015+ models have a much better suspension system and are fast. Even the G550 with 416hp, 450lbs of torque...is no slouch at 5.7sec. 0-60. The fuel mileage on a 2016 G550 is 13/14mpg with a 26gal. tank which is about what we are getting in our 200 when we add bigger tires, front bumper, winch, slider etc.

With all that being said, no way would I buy one without a long warranty that fully covers everything. For the money comparison, the LR4 is tough to beat and the realiablity is getting much better from what I hear.

Never have I heard anyone say or think that about any other vehicle

Sounds a bit oxy ironically moronish to me.

It sounds like he feels that the G wagons are more reliable now, but not enough to feel comfortable without a killer warranty.

I agree that the Lexus line up, with a few notable exceptions, is very reliable but doesn't generally excite me too much from a sports car standpoint.

Maybe you don't know enough car enthusiast. Lol

Interesting insult. How so? I like mechanical watches...IWC, Paneri,Mont Blanch, etc. These are high maintence pieces of art. I prefer things to be unique and offer something not everyone has because I find the beauty in it even though it may not be the most realiable "thing". That's how I see cars, works of art and the excitement of driving them for what they are. I have my 200 for long term get me anywhere realiablity and enjoy driving it.

So, i like having the security of a full warranty on a vechicle I'm spending $100k on knowing it may not be perfect but will provide me the joy of driving something that doesn't blend in with all the Lexus, Cadillacs, Fords, Land Rovers on the road. They are all a dime a dozen. I'm not looking to stand out but I can appreciate the details of something created by craftsmans...like a hand built Gwagon and engine.

Simmer down guys. Cars are all personal taste. One mans treasure is another mans night mare. I friend of mine collects old Triumphs. I don't see it, but I appreciate and respect his enthusiasm.

My wife likes Degaul (artist), it hurts my head to look at it. She also loves the theater, where I will take a good movie where things get blown up any day.

That is why the make Chocolate, Strawberry and Rocky Road Ice Crème among many other flavors

Not bad but always left me completely in excited. Just blah boring ride and once gets a few years old watch out for the repair bills.

A4 is kind of plastics. I had the s4 and much nicer. I wouldn't buy an a4 not a bad car just left me lacking

2016lc, thanks for the Audi replies.

Angelo1.....No, not an insult. I was just stating the I've never heard anyone say some other vehicle is more reliable than a Lexus.

Then I thought how ironic to seem so adamant about a warranty for the very vehicle that you think is more reliable than a Lexus. Sure I would want the warranty as well but saying that all in the same breathe caught my eye. But didn't mean as an insult at all.

I think you connected two sentences Angelo was not trying to connect. He said the G's are more reliable...but I think he meant more reliable than G's used to be. Not "more reliable than Lexus." I can see how it could be interpreted both ways...but I didn't take it as a comparative sentence with Lexus...rather simply compared with past G's. Whatchu think?

Markuson, oh ok, I stand corrected. I probably did infer that incorrectly. My apologies to Mr. Angelo.

Yes, sorry for any confusion. I certainly did not mean to imply the G is more realiable than a Lexus. That would make me sound ludicrous. Lol! I was just stating that the newer Gwagons are more realiable then previous model years.

Have you guys seen the video of top gear trying to kill a Toyota? If not, I'll try and post it once I get back from Wyoming to get Fireworks. :-)

That was a great episode.
