Post tranmission fluid change issues...

Thank you, sir. I'll check it out in the morning. I'm not sure when it could've been knocked loose, but it's easy enough to crawl under and take a look.

This is what the technician wrote for today's diagnostic. Is it me, or does he have kind of a pissy tone? Maybe IM the knuckle head, but I have a hard time believing my truck eats transmissions every 60,000 miles.

I'm waiting on a price quote for a new wiring harness. It'll be my last effort before giving up. I will not be eating the price of a new transmission.

I love the exclamation point at the end. Who does this guy think he is? If they didn't show you metal in the pan AS THEY DROPPED IT, he's making s*** up.

I can't see how a bad transmission with metal in pan, could possible get better. It's either good or bad. This points to electrical fault. Computers repeatedly going bad doesn't make sense either. A loose connection getting water in it fits your repeated experiences. Good luck.

Good catch @danielharro

It's very clear that the Maui dealership either doesn't care enough to help you, either want to take advantage of you, or are just ignorant. You've proven so far that the transmission shifts fine under certain circumstances (usually after a repair), as said above, transmissions don't just magically get better then worse again. They didn't drop the pan. I'd never go back. I realize that it's a limited market on the island, but that's just bad business. These are freaking dodge transmissions that go out every 60k (trust me I've had to replace 2 on one truck), they just last longer because their built better. Definitely an electrical issue.

So I got a car wash to see if our water theory... Holds water. I have a puddle on my passenger side floor mat. NOT from the AC. I KNOW this because they rinsed my car with green water (asking the car wash wtf that was is on my list of things to do, but their phone is disconnected. I guess I have to GO back to ask.) and the puddle on my floor mat is green. gonna start from my hood with a garden hose and move my way up to the sunroof to see where this water is coming from. im betting my computer behind the dash is wet. I'm betting it's wet right near the connector. Check engine light is still off. Truck is still running fine for now. But signs are continuing to point to water getting where it shouldn't and causing my problems. since this issue started, ive replaced my windshield AND cleared out my sunroof drains. Safelite might be trying to get this right for a THIRD time if it's from my windshield. Or I have to check my sunroof drains more than once a year. Or........ Something I haven't thought of yet.

Step one: garden hose.

Not at a dead end yet. The headache continues.

Well I think that is a better start than you've gotten so far!

Where is the transmission ECU? In my 4R it is right under the glove box.

Same. Glove box came out to put in new computer. It's an on/off drizzle today. I need a sunny day to really pin point where the water is coming in. I checked my sunroof for pooling water. None. I checked the headliner for dampness too. None. Last time my drain was clogged I had pooling water up top and a wet headliner down the A pillar. There is none of that this time. I'm anxious to get a hose on her when the sun comes out. I feel close.... Real close.

Door seals look fine/dry. It's definitely dripping from the same area as AC right behind/middle of glove box. Windshield is definitely prime suspect. Safelite!! >.<

They came out to replace my windshield for free when I told them I was getting water in my car and suspected their windshield. They didn't test or anything. Just took my word and replaced it. First windshield replacement happened at safelite in Sacramento. They did a piss poor job using 1 rivet, some screws and not even replacing my trim pieces. Second time happened in my carport in Maui. I watched the guy do it. I'm not a windshield guy, but it looked to be done right the second time. NOW I'm not so sure.

May I suggest some possible leak areas: You've done sun roof so move on unless you feel a retest is warranted.

Under the windshield & wipers is the black plastic molding with screens covering the inlet for fresh air. I'd start with water hose in this area and flood inlet on first test/day.

Flood around windshield on second test/day.
When windshield was installed, did they use 4 plastic coated rivets in each side molding without drilling any holes?
Did they also plug any hole that some other installer may have drilled?

Third test/day I'd flood roof rack.
100 series have three bolt locations along each side of roof regardless of roof rack type. One or more bolting down hole spots may leak.

@TwiceWithHair Sorry for your troubles brother, but I have to say this thread has been an entertaining read- sort of like a saga. i'm hooked and can't wait to see how it turns out!

You have described the battle plan that was already in my head. Good to have matching second opinions. The roof rack was gonna be last. It's the highest point, but also lowest suspect. My headliner is bone dry. And when I've had water come down from the roof in the past (sunroof), it flooded down the side panel of the footwell. This puddle is dripping in the middle of the footwell.

"When windshield was installed, did they use 4 plastic coated rivets in each side molding without drilling any holes?

He drilled out the old rivets. And unscrewed the screws and put in shiny regular rivets that he primer painted black. Still missing trim pieces. I didn't know it was missing anything at the time. I read up about the trim pieces on here AFTER the work was done. I'll insist they are used next time I call them. Which I suspect will be soon.

"Green water" could it be you have some vegetation possible pollen plugging drainage way. I don't know how the front air inlet drains, but it must.

Green water. Not out my drains. It came that way. Dripping down everywhere. Including the bumpers and wheel wells and stuck in my license plate holder. Green like antifreeze. Not MY anti freeze. Mines red =) It's really weird. the more I think about it, the more the green water bugs me. I'm gonna drive back across town and ask em about that tomorrow. the green was kind of a blessing in disguise as it was very easy to tell that the water on my floor mat came from outside and NOT from my AC. Which drips in the same area.

Your comment about air inlet drain has me thinking..... maybe its NOT my windshield. Hose test can't come soon enough. It's keeping me up thinking about it. 3 am here now. Bed time.

Would the soapy water/pressurized cabin test reveal any of the potential leaks being discussed here?

Truck running with fan on high + outside air inlet + soapy water + leak = bubbles

Hi, I'm in the UK and am experiencing the exact same problem with my 100 series of the same age. Happened this summer on a family road trip to Morocco - nightmare. Solenoid replaced, good for a short while but now happening again just like before, same clunk, same code. Really interested to know if you've found any answers yet?
