Dealing with P0420 code for a couple of years.
After failing my smog test, I decided to try the sodium hydroxide plus vinegar solution cleaning.

I had an extra aquarium pump and heater so I decided to circulate these different solution over 3 days. I would rotate the cat every so often in order to get the flow to hit different sections.
Installed drove for 30 miles and the cel turns off.
I immediately go to get smoged and pass.

The smog guy didn't believe it worked and claims the cel will return soon.

I'll let everyone know the longterm effect.

Can you shed some light in this thread on;
How many miles now, since cleaning CAT, without PO420?
Did you try CatOclean , sledgehammer, paint thinner, etc. to clean CATs first?
What was found and corrected that caused CAT issue (clogging, grim)?

How many miles now, since cleaning CAT, without PO420? About 50 miles
Did you try CatOclean , sledgehammer, paint thinner, etc. to clean CATs first? Catoclean, and another one I can't remember.
What was found and corrected that caused CAT issue (clogging, grim)? Well, I installed new Denso 02 sensors x4, New Mass Flow Sensor, New PCV valve with associated hoses, cleaned Throttle body. None of these steps solved the issue. The cat looked clean from what I could see with the naked eye.

A few of those, by themselves or in combination. Could have caused, the CAT issue. Most notable; MAF. But replacing does not fix a CAT. Only stops the damaging effect, that was as a result of. If cause not corrected. CAT's will fail again. It's why we always look for and correct cause first.

Any indication. MAF, O2's, vacuum lines were bad. Which could point to cause?

I never tested the old components to see if they were bad, except that the pcv did rattle for me.

Has anyone else done the cleaning with or without success? Do the results last?
Worked like a charm for me in late October or early November. Check engine light has been 'off' since, which is an absolute rarity!

sorry i don't have it. its been a few years. i remember there being a few options though. it's basically an extension so the 02 sensor is pulled slightly back from the main air flow
