Thanks chap79, but point of the front receiver hitch, is to mount the winch on the receiver hitch, to move the winch front to back.
did anyone ever find a hitch that fits the front of an 80 series ?
IMHO, receiver mounted winches are a pain. The winch sticks way out front so your approach angle sucks (or way out back for departure angle sucking). Plus they are in front of the bumper, so little protection for it. And so people leave them off and go to install them when needed. Dragging a freaking heavy winch out when stuck in the mud or on a hillside or anywhere else except maybe a parking lot sucks too. Just mount one in a winch bumper and be done. They sound good. They aren't.
I just haven't seen any winch mount that can tuck in as close as a bumper mount. And if (when) I smack something, I'd would rather hit my bumper than my winch.Meh, disagree. I fabbed a front bumper with 2 receivers, one always has the winch (except when I need to get up close and personal with the front of the car) and one is used for other stuff- as a recovery point, to move trailers around in tight spaces, etc. If you design and build or buy a tight-fitting bumper, the winch won't hinder you.
And I haven't seen any winch bumper that's easy to take off, or that isn't a PITA to work over. And if I hit something hard enough to damage my winch in the carrier it's mounted in, a typical bumper wouldn't have helped- and will likely cost more than the winch (that it didn't protect) to replace than the winch itself. Everyone has their preferences.I just haven't seen any winch mount that can tuck in as close as a bumper mount. And if (when) I smack something, I'd would rather hit my bumper than my winch.
Agreed. What works for one person, may not for another.Everyone has their preferences.
can you post some photos ?Meh, disagree.
