Hi,

Here is a picture of my FJ 45 which I am currently restoring. I will post some more pictures once my digital camera gets out of the shop. It is powered by a chevy 350. I just rebuilt the Turbo 400 auto trans and have a new orion on the bench. The front end has been rebuilt with an ARB air locker. The rear end is stock for now but will also be rebuilt with ARB air locker and upgraded to a full floater.

Thanks Radd Cruisers,

When I saw the truck I knew that I had to have it. I paid too much but so what it is part of my second childhood or mid life or what ever. I am sure that it is much cheeper than that cute blond I wanted. :D

Cheers,

Jim

My big project

This is my project i take a Toyota stout for the box .A fj-40 crowl and i had 3` to the frame. All the rest came from Aqualu, except the top, came from John he is in this forum but i don't remember his last name .He is somewhere in oregon. On the picture the Aqualu door, hood side pannel, fender, front .Are not there ,i went to kelona B.C. Canada to take all the stuff. My house to Kelona is about 5000km. I was in a trip across Canada , Valleyfield (Quebec) to Tofino (B.C.) I had alerady the tub from Aqualu .More photo to come . all the part is in the paint shop. And i'm doing a realy i mean Realy big frame off. In Quebec they put salt to melt the ice in the streat, so all our rig are rusted .And we don't have a lot of Cruiser parts.Sorry for the poor english i only speak French So........

congrats phil!!!!!!!!!:D

are you gonna make it to the 45 run with the new aquisition this year? say yes!

No, it needs a lot of Love before hitting a trail. It sat for at least the last 8 years in a backyard in Fresno. The PO said it hadn't really been driven for about 12 years.

In true LC fashion, we connected a gas can and she fired up and drove onto the trailer!:bounce:

Brought my newly acquired troopie back home this morning.
I bought it from a young bloke 20mi away, who had bought it from a lady barkeeper who had been driving it from new. He planned on putting the thing back to its former glory but never really got around to doing it and got sidetracked with nissans

Specs :
poor body
ugly frame
rear heater
side defrost/vents
ashtray
quartz digital clock
incab hood lock
SF rear axle
split case with drum park brake
front discs
LHD
H41
3B that runs like new after 254000km
power steering :grinpimp:

Sweet Denis, that looks about to be in the same shape mine was when i bought it in 1999. What are your plans for it. Stock resto or modding the hell out of it?
Anyway, sweet troopie.

Mark

Right now I'm thinking about a quick service, repair the worst part of the rear frame and patch the body a bit, in order to put it back on the road, but knowing myself this will turn in a frame-on resto start
I'm thinking it could work as a parts hauler and turbo-intercooled tow truck. I really wasn't looking for one but I guess I just can't help it  --v

Thats how i started out, just fix it and drive it, but that plan was quickly ditched and it is currently in pieces to do it right this time. (frame off)
When you say turbo intercooled, do you keep the 3B or go bigger. If you have the funds go for a 12H-t, i did and i love it.

I have a videoclip of me pulling out a truck, the sound alone makes you want one.

I have no doubt the 12HT is an awesome engine, I have a friend who has an intercooled, mildly tweaked HJ61 which is a torque beast. The off-idle roar gives me wood every time :whoops: But for now it will be on a serious budget. If it's a long-term keeper (quite unsure since it doesn't really fit either my DD or towing duties) I may enventually hunt for a 5sp, a/c, and a direct injected engine of some sort. Maybe 13BT to retain the 4cyl. tractorish character.
