Aren't you supposed to open that box Friday? :santa:

Found some good deals on roof baskets online.
Think im going to end up with a 5 footer.

Any suggestions are helpful. :flipoff2:

You know, ive been "thinking" about building racks for 20 years. Just never comes to fruition.
Besides, it appears theres not a way to build one cheaper than buying unless i came across some free material that matches my bender..

I saw usable racks starting at $50. The one I'm eyeing is 120$ shipped.

Yup, materials alone are expensive and it seems like every time I buy steel @ whitecity I wonder if new would be cheaper but to get it cheaper you need to buy in quantity and its better if you have an account through your business and if you buy a lot of steel through your business its even cheaper but starting a business just to save some money will require spending too much time and money. ..

Just buy one

On a side note. The Thule rack set i got is apparently pretty old. Of course Craigslist..... One of the legs was locked.

So my immediate solution was to disassemble the knob and flip the lock cylinder, "unlocking" the knob.

Annyway I called Thule with the lock code and had new keys in a week for under 12$.

More broken parts....
The daystar bumps didnt last long, Disappointingly. They had a dozen or so runs on them. Guessing the bump pads almost never hit them flat. Kind of the nature of the beast.

So pics.

Recently replaced a broke brake hose. Looks like my steering box is leaking a bit too:(
Will be getting some new RCVs installed in the next couple weeks. My warranty died with bobby long, insurance isnt cheap. Lol
Think im going to make the girls help :)

New are 4" compare to 4.5".
My thinking was theyre a little shorter, but a little more dense. Should end up in the same stop spot. I have room with the smaller tire for more uptravel as well so as long as these stay together i should be GTG for a minute. :flipoff2:

As always im lagging on upkeep. Lol

RCVs showed up for my birthday, finally getting around to it. My Longs were used when i got them and clicked since day one. Like everyone knows, the Longfield lifetime warranty died with bobby :( RIP.
So i tore them down, cleaned and inspected them and they will live on in gabes rig. They were actually really tight and kind of a bitch to get apart so i dont think they needed replaced but whatever.
I wont be surprised if the brand new axles "click". Lol

New garage is working out well. Got some new lights wired and the garage door working properly, after a long aggravating battle.

Nice that RCV pays tribute ;)

Going to drop the front diff to inspect, replace the pinion seal and install a solid spacer. I also need to swap the steering box input seal. Need to knock this s*** out and get busy on the 'lady. :smokin:

Actually worked on the truck. Did the pinion seal and solid spacer on front diff. Turns out the spindle nut tool is perfect size for seal driver.
