This weekend was pretty productive. I got 6 1/4 inches cut out of the body and most of it lined back up to within a blade of where it needed to be... with the exception of the roof. I don't know what I was doing when I made those marks and cuts, but I'm easily half an inch off. Got most of it welded back in place. Body mounts are only tacked in place, and the lower 6 or 7 inches on both sides need to be massaged into place with a hammer to get them to line up. They've been tweaked pretty bad in the past. Little things to finish this up will come this week and into the weekend. We'll see what I do with the window frames. They line up, but that glass is heavy, as is the rear hatch. Surprisingly heavy considering it doesn't have the wiper motor in there anymore. Then lots of grinding and some primer this weekend. Half way through cutting the thought crossed my mind to just get rid of the whole body behind the front seats, leave the lower section, weld the rear doors shut and have a big pickup. Hot and sticky in the sun mixed with metal glitter and plasma burns ruins everything

With the impending rain, I got the roof stitched back together last night, got the upper hatch back on, and got the sliding rear windows in. The sliding window frames under the seals are aluminum. I took just a a 16th over 6 inches out of the frames and a touch more out of the seal. Because I don't have the ability (and definitely not the time to learn last night) to weld the aluminum back together, I cut the seal that wraps the frames offset of my cuts in the frames themselves so it would be held together when under pressure. Got the lips back around the frames and back into the body. I will be getting rid of the glass down the line in favor of some lexan or aluminum to make gull wing style windows, but this got everything sealed back up for the rain. I definitely need to fill some of the body some more to make it look a little better, but it's all one piece again. Next up, the rear bumper.

Spent a weekend out at Sourdough Campground with some of the PMC crew in honor of Jeff Bomke. That was a great time and I’ll get some pictures of that up soon. But on the way back I got to hit the scale to see how I’m doing. Fully loaded with both kids, wife and dog with a weekend of cool weather camping gear and extra blankets, I was right at what I was before with almost no fuel, and nobody but me in it but me and the fridge

One thing became clear over the weekend while camping though. I needed to get my drawers back in the Cruiser. So I got home, emptied the whole Cruiser out, found where I hid my old drawers, got them cut everything down to match the new length since being shortened, and stuffed them back in. Not going to run the wings anymore. I don’t use it as a sleeping platform anymore and that gives me access to put things in that area when I need to

So it's been a little bit since I've had an update on this thing. Most of what's going on is my pile of parts is growing. I have 2 sets of 9.5 gears to repair the damaged set and build a second diff, and some other miscelaneous link brackets, hardware and lockers to go into things. Until I have everything, it will wait. But this past weekend I decided that I want to have a locking center console. I have a set of doors from a rollover I'm waiting on that will become half doors, and with half doors running around all summer, I want to be able to lock things somewhere. So a Tuffy console went in

This week was a productive one at least in the background. Got my spare rear diff sent out with it's parts to get built. When the diff that's currently in the rear comes out, it'll get sent away also and the fresh one will go in. Sierra Gear 4.88s and rebuild kit and Yukon Grizzly going in.

Also picked up the spare door shells that will become trimmed down half doors front and rear. They still had hinges, latches and handles on them and nothing else, so they're perfect.

Looks to me like someone wants Redemption . 2025 :steer:

Took a break on Cruiser related stuff otherwise. My dad moved up near me and bought a 4th gen 4Runner to wheel the Rubicon with me in August. He has an FJ40 and has had too many Cruisers to count reliably. But he feels bad now cutting one up to wheel, but a 4Runner is fair game. So I installed his lift for him and got it onto my testing stump to see where we need to hammer and trim some more. Looks like he's ready for armor to be installed next.

Agreed you could just roll down the window and you aren’t gaining any view.
