Haha not quite.

The welds are not bad.

Shes finally coming together though...

Got a fair bit done today but my camera decided not to put out so i have no pikkies.... Ill take some on monday

What i did

Finished mounting front springs (bastard of a job)
Mounted new rear springs
Cut mounts off rear diff
Bolted rear diff in SOA (haven't welded perches on yet as i have no transfer to work off)

Then after all that and working with a perfect 45deg shackle angle i decided to flex the springs up a bit to see what id get.
Instantly the front and rear shackles rolled back and hit the chassis and got stuck there....

Whats the deal? are my shackle angles all wrong or are standard shackles no good working at 45deg?

sigh... so much work yet so little actually acheived..

ahh anyway on a lighter note, worked on my mates car today also (time stealing whore!) and we got it totally ready for the mud guts and glory.

Catchyas there!

anyway yaal

here are the pix i promised...
Those top ubolt plates are crapola old ones ill change them later...
i hate that shackle angle LOL!

Wow, I am filled with admiration. Keep up the good work.

Yeah those springs are too long I guess, you can correct that with longer shackles though. Had those issues with my truck after a year of hard wheeling, and would stick the odd time while driving, had to jack it up and go. Yours looks a lot worse, since the body isn't even on. I added an extra leaf to mine to fix it, but you could add longer shackles, or reweld the frame shackle mount further back.
Cheers,
Deny

yeah their parabolics

they have a good load rating

the spring themselves are alot lighter than the same conventional version

longer than standards and 2" lifted, should flex well

thanx everyone

keep the shackles and move the hangers back a bit to correct the angle - shackles that are too long tend to flex sideways a bit on the road and make handling sloppy. Nice welds by the way!

ive never used them like this..

but my mate has them on his lux, and it flexes up orsmly!

hey guys,

im going to try and sort out the front diff tomorrow, get it under the springs at the right angle and all that.

I got the old engine and box back into the w/s so i can get all the angles right...

i towed it with the dunnydoor in the wet and subsequently rear ended someone (stoopid me) wasnt any damage but ill still be up for a bit of $$ ahh well ill update saturday night

laters

Hi guys heres a little update, i didnt get much done as i was helping a mate sort his car out (he bent his front diff).

Anyway i managed to get the old block and gearbox/transfer siting in for the output flange angles.

I was running out of time so i did a quick bodjy job and put the front diff in SOA just so it can be wheeled around easier now that the engine is in.

Hehe a super quick 10 min front SOA comprising of only 2 holes hahaaha (remember its super temporary!)

Some more movement.;) Your going to be stuck in there during summer if you dont go like crazy:D
Is that the old 1HZ that Kon was supposed to get?

What did Westralia springs charge for the leaf packs?

Are you happy with that shackle angle? Looks like it should be more vertical to me and when you load some weight on it ,it will be worse.

With the hi steer, can you still use the old pitman arm?
