Good news, I have been working, okay, okay, stealing ideas from lots of posts. I want to get something put together this winter for my rear storage system. I will be watching closely.

This is the VH1 equiv. of "Where are they now"

Did this ever happen?

Nope! My needs, wants and desires have changes way too much over the years. I have been considering buying a CNC router to make these but then again I've also been thinking about making it all aluminum and skinning it with 3/4" birch. No decisions made.

@newtomelx I think this is the thread you were thinking of.

It looks like you have given alot of thought to what you want to accomplish but don't forget to give an equal amount of time to what you need and will really use. I have a tendency to try to squeeze too many of the "wouldn't it be cool if it also..." into my projects. In the end I sometimes end up building in things that I don't really end up using:rolleyes:.

My storage setup is not as detailed as yours but I have been very happy with it so far. Had I wanted to incorporate a fridge from the beginning, I would try to get it as close to the floor as possible, I know this would mean redesigning the tool drawer but I think it would make access a little easier.

The others are correct about the space in front of the wheel wells also, there isn't any.

I think that adjustable track tiedowns are a great idea too. I gave them alot of consideration when planning my project as well. In the end, I decided that 6 well placed and supported tie downs would be best for me and have been very happy with that decision.

I used the factory seat bolt holes and steel bracketry to hold down my box. Is that what you were thinking too, or only using the factory tie down holes? I don't think you can effectively use those, they are too far to the outside of the rig. If you want to use the seat bolt holes, I can give you some bolts as I needed to get 50 in order to get what I wanted for my rig (the thread pitch in conjunction with a beveled head is a rare item).

I'll keep an eye on your thread as well. It looks like you're off to a great start.

Hi again 619 toy , if your offer of some of those rare belved bolts that will use existing seat bolt hoes is still available I could use them. My email is gomarkc@gmail.com to arrange transfer and I am happy to pay some too...the least I can do for all your hard design efforts so far!

I might still have the set I got from him if he doesn't have any.

Unfortunately I sold all of those bolts years ago, but I've since come up with a different solution which doesn't require flat head bolts the same thread pitch as factory. I just cut and punched some flat strap. Then you can either use grade 5 "speed clips" or weld nuts. This is how I did it on the 200 and I think it will work fine on an 80 too...

Thank you. But not sure how that works for mounting drawer box to vehicle floor?
