Thats probably best handled by the trained people. not worth the rabies shots if the thing puts a tooth or claw on ya.

Anyone know how to trap a raccoon? Specifically one that is probably stuck in a chimney???
Have a smallish dog kennel? Maybe put some food inside but the hard part will be getting him unstuck first.

Look forward to seeing some pics or video of this........

and could possibly be a female - and it's around the time they start giving birth :( hoping for the best for you.....

Light a fire. He'll figure a way out. Probably straight down into the flames, igniting his fur before he runs from couch to curtains to bedding to your giant collection of matchbooks and on to the open buckets of gasoline you're trying to turn into varnish...but he'll be outta there. Scott 1. Raccoon 0.

or you could be a new character in the guardians of the galaxy series.....that could be the racoon that saves the universe

If he's stuck in the chimney he's already trapped :)

Have a heart trap has always worked for me. I relocated at least a dozen to the uninhabited part of the island when I lived in the Keys.

Been there, done that in CLT. They den in uncapped chimneys, have babies, come out every night only to return before daylight. Eventually, they all move out before fall / winter when you want to use the fireplace.

After several cycles of said activities, I decided to get a jump on the situation and have a cap installed. Our other chimney has a cap and I swear this one did too when I bought the house but it's not there now for whatever reason so after a call to the chimney guy, he comes out to install the cap. He's working on the roof, mumbling and then comes down to inspect the chimney from the bottom up and comes running out of the house claiming the biggest, meanest raccoon he's ever seen is already in the chimney. At this point chimney guy packs his stuff, says to call for cap install when the raccoon is gone and promptly leaves.

So...wife calls animal control, per the chimney guy's recommendation. No, that's outside of their domain and not something they do. Have to use a private firm. After several more calls for professional raccoon "removal", the lowest quote we found was something like $350 to trap and remove the raccoon.

Nope. Amazon Prime 2 day delivery of the properly sized Havahart trap for well under $100 and I'm now in the trapping business. After several false starts with possums and the neighbor's cat, I finally got the big guy in the trap. I had to promise my wife I would not dispatch the PITA in the backyard and would relocate him. Haha. IIRC, I think dispatch was the actual, legal way to go per city / county ordnance but I digress...

Good times and trip down memory lane. You are welcome to borrow my trap and save the money from buying one.

Duplicating my post from the for sale section.....amazon is having a huge 1 day sale on sandisk products. 128 gb ultra micro sd cards for 32.99. Plus usb drives, other micro sd cards, sd cards, and ssd drives.

@cruiser4life - I have someone coming by on Friday to give me a quote. If it's too expensive or can't work out I might take you up to borrow the traps.

There was a big commotion going on outside and sounded like someone was rustling about outside our window. Went to investigate and I'm pretty sure I broke up some sweet possum loving.

The noises in the chimney sounds like raccoons but maybe we have possums too??

well you are in an area where there are not many chimneys left due to the new houses, so you might be an even hotter commodity! ;)

Could be the animal equivalent of Hugh Hefner's Grotto.

Looks like a kia soul and a jeep renegade had a one night stand in a ladies room at a bar...

Not my cup of tea. I bought the FJC new in 06, because it was new and I wanted to play and not be wrenching on an old truck. I sold it when it was 7 years old. I'll stick with older well maintained trucks. Can't imagine the cost of repairs on that thing once out of warranty. It'll be interesting to see how close they stay to the concept, the FJC was pretty close.
