OME BP51 gimmicky?

My opinion: 285/75/17 (34)

As a guy with "35's"...I agree with @TonyP that 285/75/17 is probably the more sensible choice.
I put 35's in quotes because mine are actually about 34" tall when mounted.

I'm happy enough with my tires, but 285/75/17 will lead to fewer compromises with its narrower tread.

The Ridge Grapplers I saw mounted at Slee last Summer in 285/75/17 were just hair shy of 34" but a full 2 inches narrower than my set.

KO2's in 285/75/17 came in right at 33" on Rock Warriors according to @Atwalz last week...so mounted height will vary brand to brand and wheel to wheel.

Thanks for your honest advice guys! The KO2 285/75/17 sounds like my next tire.

Any advice between 3.0 front coilovers vs 2.5? I am still getting 20% off so price isnt a huge factor. Only thing I will be giving up is I wasnt originally planning on lifting with the 2.5s. With the 3.0 I will need to lift 1.75". I am willing to live with that (no chicago parking garages) if its worth it for mostly street driving.

I love my 200 and want whats best for her.

@Reckless send a note to @RS6tofj80, I think he has been talking with Icon for a while about the differences between the 2.5s and 3.0.

unless you are running high speed desert stuff, the 3.0 seem like overkill.

I agree with Tonyp and Mark, 35s are novel to say you have em', but 34 is really the best size for a lifted 200.

34 will fit in stock spare tire location. you can get away without gearing with 34s better than 35s.
I ran the 285/75r17 Toyo ATIIs for two years. They did very well on road and off. they were loud, and wore down pretty fast after 35K miles.

If I were out shopping today I'd probably look at 305/70r17
or 295/70r18, depending on wheel choice.

agree on the 3.0's being a bit overkill unless you're super built or running a larger tire then a 34/5...... with my 37's and fully armoured up I could see it being helpful at speed and on hard impacts but in no way feel that the 2.5's aren't up to the task for 95% of my need...

Agree that 34" is likely the sweet spot as well.... I'm debating going down in size and a bit wider.

I am leaning to the 3.0 coilovers as its supposed to be more plush on the street, all the minor serrations in the road wont be felt. My understanding is the 3.0 have 45 % more dampening then the 2.5. I know there was a big jump from 2.0 to 2.5, I would imagine there would be a small jump from 2.5 to 3.0?

The only issue I have is that I will need to raise the vehicle 1.75" using Icons/eibach rear spring. I wasn't planning on a lift mostly because of car garages and my parents. I have Slee sliders which make getting in much nicer but hate seeing my mom struggle.

Had the BP51's switched to Icons. Icons are more than a notch above in control of the truck, they are better on high speed corrugated trails.
Bp's are good, Icons are that much better, feels like the truck can tackle any terrain at any speed with composure, control, and overall shock absorbing capacities, specially on things like a big bump, jumps, etc...
They are also easier to set as the compression setting is done on the reservoir.
But they feel more like a German car suspension than a floaty cadillac.

How plush are they on the street? Do you feel every serration on the road? Would you call it plush, super plush or regular on the street? Do you have 2.5s front and rear?

This is worth keeping in mind. My very mild lift brings my stock roof rack extremely close to the top of the garage door.

My car with RW KO2s is pretty much at the roof of my garage door, 6'6"

Running icon 2.5s front and rear.
OME 2721 springs in the rear.
I've got the coilovers dialed down to just under 2 " of lift. (Plus spacers front and rear to get to 4" total)

I would say the ride on the street is super plush.

What cdc valve setting are you running? I would imagine with 4" lift you would feel bumps/contours even more?

He's only getting 2 of those inches from his coil preload though. The other 2 are from spacers. Spacer lifts don't add stiffness the suspension the way preload or rear springs do.

What Mark said is correct. Im.only running a little under 2" of spring lift. Very soft suspension.
I cheaped out and Disney get the cdc valves. I can only imagine how plush you could dial it in

In the city you feel the road, it's definitely not cadillac floaty type, it's more firm, never jarring, and as soon as you speed up in roads, trails, highway, it's plush but you still know what the wheels are doing and the condition of the road. Hard to describe, controlled, somewhat firm but never jarring or uncomfortable.

And I have the 2.5. Keep in mind the tires are a big factor, I have KO2's if I wanted plush I could go to LT tires that will totally absorbs the little imperfection at slow speed.

Are you running the CDCV?

Disregard, I see that you're running Stage 5.

They are expected to ship out next week-over a month on back order but I'm having second thoughts. While researching the difference between 2.5 and 2.0 shocks I came across Fox 2.0 and considering them but not sure if its going completely in the wrong direction:
Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series 2016-2008 Front Shock - 2.0 Performance Series Coil-over IFP Coil-over Shock | FOX

They are running $960 for the entire set and seem to have great reviews everywhere. Since I am not doing a lift and completely street rig I have been contemplating going in the opposite direction. My intent wouldn't be to rebuild them, I would replace them as needed which is much easier.

If anyone can comment please do. I know the rule is to pick any color (fox, king, icon) but these are very inexpensive compared to everything else and same size as BP51s but without remote reservoirs or adjustability. Almost 1/3rd the cost savongs $1700! Progressive springs sound better than digressive too.

I have no problem spending more money if it makes a difference on the street. If I lived on west coast I would be a desert racer and would have gotten the 3.0s.

Not sure if this is comparable or not but some empirical data:
