The Owner pointed the collage of newspaper clippings behind my Mr. Potato Head and went on to share how she recieved a US Supreme Court ruling in her favor.

Wait What??

Reportedly, the city atttorney and some of his cohorts wanted the owner of the restaurant to “lighten the skin of their potatoman logo”. It did not “fit with the City’s gentrification efforts”. They asked her to take the sign down. All I could think of was that it was a molasses day at the City Attorney’s office and he needed to show he was not whistling Dixie with a finger up his *ss on the tax payers tab.

The owner sued the City for defamation and more. It went all up to the Supreme Court where she got it overturned. Like Old Landy, no is not in her vocabulary.

Hope you can read some of the text in the clippings.

I think that we just found a new nick-name for CD! :grinpimp:

Always nice to see pictures of the Land(y)snail.
Why don´t you stay with the H engine & 4 speed?

The H is a 3.6 L (3,576 cc) inline, 12-valve ] OHV diesel engine. Bore is 88 mm and stroke is 98 mm, with a compression ratio of 21:1. Output is 95 PS (70 kW) rpm at 3,600 with 22.0 kg⋅m (216 N⋅m; 159 lb⋅ft) of torque at 2,200 rpm.
I remember the australian & european 4x4 print media at this time they praised the H engine.
It was the strongest Diesel engine you could get it this 4x4 category.

The H engine is the rare one in the LC world worth to be preserved in a can.
Cheers

Engine specs of the english.Series 3 LandlandyLady at this time:
2,25 l Diesel engine
44 kW (60 PS) bei 4.000 U/min
139 Nm bei 1.800 U/min

You will never get an invitation to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance & no chance to meet all the automobile hereos of the last century with an engine & 5 speed swap.

Great stuff. Truly makes it better. We seem to have the H engine components. We will rebuild it.

We plan to drive Old Landy and put her away wet. We might drive the shores of pebble beach. No garage queen.

They have a preservation class at Pebble Beach too.. not only shine ones :)
Old Landy did very well with the H engine in & would do in the future too.

"The Preservation class is one of the more interesting aspects of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It is intended to recognize those few old cars that have never been restored and the idea is to keep them that way. For many collectors, these time relics are very special and are usually valued more than an equivalent restored car. As the saying goes, "A car can be restored many times but it is original only once".

My Red 45 can isn`t restored (former fire truck) and I drive the can in spring, summer, autumn & winter.

I have seen a documentary at the TV a Gentleman & his wife driving an old authentic 1928 Rolls Royce in Island.
They drove through water and mud & unpaved roads without any pain where usually only 4x4 cars and trucks drive.
Was suprised how well this vintage 2 wheel drive Rolls did between all these 4x4.
The end :)

Travelling the Globe in a vintage not modernised now 90 years old car.
Wasn´t restored when they started their little weekend trip in 2000 and missed the highway exit to their home.:)
Buy the book & read their story.

This past weekend my family and I spent the weekend at the Elf Barn, and fortunately @CenTXFJ60 and @CaptClose where able to come down as well! They (@CenTXFJ60 and @CaptClose) arrived at around 9:30pm. We quickly had some dinner listened to CaptClose play the Ukulele and hurried to the barn to unpack the many goodies that where in back of Old Landy. We where very excited to see what rare or as CaptClose would say unicorn dust. Was there any.......!

If you have been reading you have seen a sneak peek at some of the little things we took out, but what you are about to see is a representation of who Andres was as a person and how the things we found reflect on what he needed for the treacherous journeys he went on. We all were elbowing each other to get at the loot. Old Landy did not disappoint. The loot was impressive. I will share a sneak peak of all that lay in the camper. A teaser. I will share more on each of the goods in posts to come.

Ordinarily, it would stand alone as fact of nice significance, but it was magical.

@CaptClose does play a mean Ukelele. He played “Somewhere over the rainbow “ which was quite fitting knowing the bounty that awaited us in Old Landy. Unicorns, gold, and leprechauns.

We will share the loot this evening once @Cowboy45 gets done with homework;).

The night went into early morning to around 1am and many broken and battered boxes kept spilling out of Old Landy. It felt like watching your favorite movie over and over again as new boxes piled out. At the end of it all we ended up with this extraordinary amount of boxes and parts.:santa::santa::santa: I was so surprised it all fit in Old Landy!!...they are not for sale just in case you are wondering.:flipoff2:

Thinking it was empty we where about to close up shop, but out of the corner of my eye I spotted a medium sized box tucked away in the back hidden in the very back of Old Landy’s bed was this the holy grail?!! I really hope this live picture works.

Andres basically had two entire engines worth of parts and many unobtanium bits inside Old Landy!

I now understand what Andres meant when he said he gave Landy a “ complete service!”. All OEM parts.

I can do nothing less going forward.

I thought I would share the detailed pics of the loot part by part showing part numbers in case others out there are searching for similar for their rigs.
