Pretty sure there is a shop in Texas that is making these, or something very similar already....

This has been talked about A LOT out here over the past year.....

The following.....from THIS THREAD <---- this is a link

That's a 90% ripoff of the old style ARB bull bar, which is not available any longer. There's a fabricator in San Marcos, Texas who's building clones of this bumper for Wimberly 4x4. I've seen his shop and products and they're extremely rugged, sturdier than the original ARB IMHO. Send a PM to grant5127-- he has all the details. Also try search. IIRC Grant posted photos of the prototype bumper several weeks ago.

Around these parts bigger is better.... the one on the olive cruiser is the last original ARB..... the red one has a reproduction one ( in the raw) a local cat is making.....

Seems like if you read along in the thread linked above, you will notice that people have exchanged PM's with grant5127 on this very topic. I would be willing to bet that if you sent him a PM on this topic, that he would be willing to get you all the information on these bumpers that you could possibly want.....or what was the price when you talked with him a month ago....

G'day all from Aussieland...

I had a heavy wall thickness aluminium version of the same bullbar until some idiot in an 80 series slammed into it broadside...yep it destroyed the bullbar but saved the old 40...
unfortunatly my lovely lady got a heavy whack by the rollbar.. Cheers and beers all... Gaz.

My understanding is that style of Bull Bar is no longer legal to sell in Australia. I doubt that ARB would start making them again strictly for export.

Just about everything is illegal in Australia, so you just have to do what you want to do and hope for the best. This Big Brother society down here is trying to protect everyone from everything, and in the process has made it very difficult to predict what is legal and what is not. I reckon Australia should not be known as 'the lucky country' anymore but 'the safe country.' You can't even ride a bicycle down here unless you are kitted out with a safety helmet, reflectors and lights (I am serious, by the way).

My 40 down here in Australia came with a big Aussie-style bull bar on it, but I decided to take it off before I got a big Aussie-style ticket at a random Aussie-style road safety check and replace it with a Warn 8274 winch and bumper which I made. I do think that the 40 looks too much like a football helmet with a big bull bar though... I still have the bull bar on my Troopy in the US, as I love the way they look on troopies.

Cheers,

Josh

I know its been a long time since anyone posed on this thread but does any one have the contact for the guy that was building the copies in Texas?

I think it looks great

ARB is doing a re run of these bars as we speak. They got more orders than they thought they would and there is a backlog. Im still waiting for mine hopefully end of next month.
