Timbo is that the same 45 you have now?
We missed you at the meeting Saturday, was hoping to see your rig.

No, The 45 I have now I got maybe 4 years ago.
Sorry about that meeting. I was getting my truck ready for Don to pick up. Its at Wolf Creek Rod Works now. I would still like to get to know people in the local group.

Is it a 40 or 45 in the pic, I can't tell?

No worries on the meeting, plenty of opportunities to meet folks. You could go help Jon get his cage in this weekend :)

I'm sure I'll make it down to another meeting sometime this year, so hopefully we'll cross paths before too long.

Who's Don and what are you doing to your truck?

Early 80's Masafi Rally, Dubai UAE

This is from a local rally in the UAE, back in the 80's. It's not a 45, but it's an excellent picture. I think the truck was a write off after this landing.

The Co-driver is John spiller, who became the team manager of the Subaru World Rally team, and now runs all of the FIA sanctioned events in the UAE. Fantastic guy.

HJ45

Here is a New Zealand HJ45, picture taken by a coworker in the early 80's.
He is going to look for more. :D

Perth, Western Australia, 1981. A Toyota diesel Land Cruiser fitted with dual firebox gas producer being tested....

Hydrogen_Generator_Gas_V._1_&_2_Australian_GP_Land_Cruiser.gif

The unit has both an updraft generator for charcoal fuel and a downdraft generator for wood chips. The two are coupled so that gas from the wood chips passes through the burning charcoal and is purified of tars before entering the engine. For short runs, only the charcoal generator is lit. It is efficient, quick starting, and handles variable loads with little change in gas quality.....banner
