I know exactly what you are going through with this one (fortunately I finished it with my *eep).
Good job!

Very cool you are saving another one.

I am too attached to my rig to ever sell it and get a rust free one.

But I did pick up another rust free one to go with it though ;)

The title of the thread sux!! If you know someone dieing from cancer you know what I mean :frown:

Uh, Mudders are not the most sensitive bunch, but you should know that it is pretty universal to refer to vehicle rust as "cancer". But, sorry to hear that you apparently have a loved one dealing with the "Big C". I wish them (and you) well.

back on point:
I (like Texx) do not like the wood sides. They belong only on a late 70's through early 80's American made station wagon (not on a SUV called a "wagon"). And on the Heep Wagoneer, already mentioned.

I vote to paint that with a nice color instead of the wood decal--as if there was vote called for on this...

And, as for you being a moron, you're in good company. I paid $8,500 for my HJ60 with major rust in the drip rails and on the windshield frame. I bought a sawzall and drove 6 hours to Atlanta to tear the roof off of a FJ62 that was being parted out--for $300. I have NO idea yet what I might have to pay for a good welder to do this roof swap.

That's a staggering amount of work  - if it's a good truck - then it's worth it. I've held onto many "Friends" that were good vehicles when I'd been probably better financially served to get a different one.

Aside from the rust, the car was a one owner (old guy) and it was never ever off road. She's a diamond in the rough. never be a queen but she's going to be a solid rig when Im done.

Im amazed at the great shape my parts vehicle was in. the frame is pristine as was the body with the exception of the roof by the rain gutters. It had a little fender bender on the right side that could have easily been repaired. now its destined to be part of history.

That's some major work!! Why didn't you just use the donor as your truck if the body and frame are so good and rob the old truck of parts?
