Engine, transmission, transfer case and a bunch of other little stuff besides the disk brakes.
Not only that, Toyota had running changes within model years so MFG date can make difference.
Either way, they are still built like a reinforced brick. I got an email from a guy in CA who was uber impressed by my video that I got it running after sitting in the back yard for 4 years.
Here's a couple pix of what the guy who restores instrument clusters on eBay for big $$ did to my gauge cluster this week after I sold it to him. It was a pretty rusty piece with the temp gauge stuck on high. There's a lot of niche folks out there along with restorers who do great stuff. There's also a lot of folks that don't realize that less than 100,000 FJ40's made it to the US and just part them out or crush them
