How much do you love your Turtleback?
We’ve been very satisfied with it. It’s been all up and down the east coast up into Maine & Canada and out west to UT,AZ, NM and has never skipped a beat. Very agile, tows easy, well built.

ETA: This thread has some more pics etc in it. Thread

Nice pics... Was wondering what fender flares are those? How are they mounted, double sided tape?
They are a bit of a mess (Monet, food from afar, far from good). They were put in my the dealer in Texas (Arlington) and are the flares that “Gulf States Toyota Group” install (at port) on every Land Cruiser to come out of Texas, Louisiana, etc. they are screwed in at the fender where the liner meets the outside edge and then double sided taped at the body. However it looks like they didn’t stay on too well with just that so the previous owner had someone use silicone sealant (Black) to fill the gap and attach. While the flare has stayed on for the most part, when you get up close it looks like a mess. YMMV

After 1 month with my 2013 I'm way too pumped to keep testing the limits (47,000 km, CAD $47k). Sold my 2001 Tacoma TRD for a family friendly ute. Local trails gave me the chance to check 4Lo, AHC clearance in Hi, articulation, crawling over rock | rock&dirt, and crawl control. Didn't need crawl control but better to check how it works before you need it. Still haven't tried any terrain which required locking center diff. I'm waiting to mount mud terrains before diving in too deep. Not a daily driver, purposed for off road adventure. Too me it feels like its just barely been broken in: new battery, recovery kit, and removed 3rd row seats.

Energizer 24F-AGM battery (wish I bought VMAX MB137 AGM )

Future:
Cooper STT Pros (LT295/55R20)
Air compressor
Sliders
Front bumper with 1200 winch
Black out chrome
Maybe: drawers, rear bumper to mount spare

You got a hell of a deal!

I paid just under $60k CAD for my '14 w/ 38,000km on it this past December, and that was by far the cheapest option on the market via I-know-a-guy-who-knows-a-guy-that-runs-the-dealership discount.

I jumped on this sale immediately and could tell the dealership was motivated to get it off the lot.
Fit fine, it’s the same brakes as a Tundra. Not sure about other 17in models tho. This is designed for Toyota and can clear.
Do you have the big brakes from Stoptech? My 2013 LX 570 has OEM large red Stoptech calipers which I thought you'd have too. I'd like a 17" wheel if possible but looking at the size of these calipers I can't imagine 17s would fit

yeah a big brake kit isn't going to work with 17s. you could measure to verify, but it doesn't seem likely.

This thread needs more pics. From South Tahoe Twin Peaks trail.

Wow, looks like a fantastic spot for your LX to bring you. I've heard there are a couple technical sections of that trail. How'd the LX do? I'm headed up to Tahoe in two weeks, and I'd like to check this spot out...

There are a couple spots that are more rutted out over climbs that requires some articulation. And a spot where having more clearance really helps to go over some obstacles/rocks. You'll want to use low range and lock the center diff in steeper parts.

Nothing a stock LX can't handle with its exceedingly capable AHC suspension. A stock height rig might just drag, but AHC high is not stock clearance when it has the ability to lift 3" on demand. Overall it was effortless with my mild setup. I still had all my towing contraptions on my vehicle as I knew I'd have enough clearance. Folding mirrors help too especially with my tow mirrors still mounted.

Highly recommended. Easy to get to off Lake Tahoe Blvd and Sawmill Rd/Sawmill Pond. Air down in the parking lot.

If anything, it was too short - 3 miles total there and back. Enough to scratch the off-roading itch with stupendous views of Lake Tahoe.

We picked up a Patriot Camper yesterday.

Jealous man. That’s a nice trailer. We got a chance to check them out at Overland Expo. They aren’t cheap but what a well designed and constructed product. Can’t wait to see pics from the wild.
