@BIC JET and I are here at our VRBO down by the Hot Springs. We're pretty beat after 3 days of travel and fishing so we are perhaps going to sleep in a bit tomorrow morning. We're still looking to do some sort of mild run, but I fear my original plan of Stony Pass won't work out due to timing with the opening event at 4PM. Only been to Ouray once before so not as familiar with close by trails--currently flipping through the FunTreks book trying to figure out where and when. Maybe 9-10AM start time?

Edit: Currently thinking perhaps Corkscrew Gulch/Hurricane Pass?
I’m down for 9-10am start. Corkscrew/Hurricane sounds perfect. I think we can then go through Animus Forks and end up in Silverton and bring 550 back up to Ouray.

You guys wanna add Poughkeepsie too?
Bypass can be utilized if you want…..

I can meet you at 10 at the Rotary lot.

I'm actually signed up for Poughkeepsie on Thursday so I need to see what kind of overlap there is

10AM at Rotary sounds like a plan, once we're all there we can see who is feeling up for what and how many

@LvCruiserNewb and I did Red Mountain Pass after Ophir from Telluride. It was really good. Nothing too intense but parts are what I’d call moderate. Would be a short run by itself. About 60 to 90 minutes for the trail and 30 and 40 minutes from the trail heads on 550.

Anyone doing Ophir, I’d recommend adding this in either direction.

Obligatory I’ve arrived post.

You planning on running any trails tmrw am?

We've arrived yesterday but unfortunately sans Cruiser due to a last minute snafu of my own making on Friday that wasn't going to get fixed in time :censor:

Frantically rented a Forerunner from the local airport, piled the gear, family, and dog in and hit the road early Saturday. Along the way made some calls to local outfits in Ouray that rent off-road vehicles and secured one...

So yes, I'll be "that guy" attending LCDC in a Jeep, but at least I'm here to enjoy the week with you fine folks in this amazing setting 🍋

Sorry, I missed this message. I did run Yankee Boy today with a small group. Hope you found some trails today.

View of Blue Lakes from the pass which is a mile hike from the end of Yankee Boy. Also views of Governor Basin, and Sidney Basin today.

Sidney Basin was beautiful but it’s definitely harder than Governor Basin; it’s more like Yankee Boy. There’s a spot with a fairly steep descent with moguls and rocks about half way in. Getting down is doable as a “semi-controlled descent” but getting back up if the latter part of the loop is in bad shape could be a challenge. A group of 4 or maybe 5 trucks could manage to turn around there but a larger group would have to proceed. If we weren’t trying to get back by 4pm for registration we might have attempted it. If anyone does it report back and send pics.

Good day running Mineral, Poughkeepsie and Corkscrew.

Who was the As Clown who drove through the flowers and grass in the photos? That is a good way to get trails and places like this closed down. Please stay on the trails with your vehicles. Not sure if this was your group or another????
