Totally forgot about that kit. I turned down two of the pieces to be pefect for inner axle seal for the 80 and the 40 series rigs AND keep in in my trail bag.

Not so much of a tool as an accessory, but the magnetic trays are awesome. I'll put them on the frame rail when I'm under the truck and put bolts where they don't get lost. Often times you can just leave them there until the job is done.

I have enough that I can even do an axle job, and each bolt can have its own tray. Just stick 'em to the fender!

This, a million times. Their magnetic trays are amazing! As I'm on a budget when it comes to garage tools, most of my stuff comes from HF, haven't had a single item break yet (torque wrenches, breakers, angle sockets, etc), but there are two by my house, so it's easy to get replacements. I think in the last year or two the quality of some of their items has increased.

I like the picture of a Chinese press under an American flag.

I have a lot of HF stuff in my garage, some is junk, some is gold.

Electric impact wrench (died after about 3 uses)
6-ton jack stands (best investment ever!)
ball joint puller, the kind with a fork and a lever
Air-powered brake bleeder (does not work as advertised, but at $15 just having the fill bottle and drain bottle is worth it)
Cart for the ol' Miller
Plenty of hand tools, most of which I haven't managed to break yet (snap ring pliers are garbage)

Too many to list. Started buying HF tools when all my "American made" crapsman which are made in China like everything else started failing. Blew up several crapsman sockets and torque wrenches and 1/2 drive ratchets and after taking them in and only the sockets getting replaced on the spot, I decided it wasn't worth the money to keep replacing with crapsman especially when Pittsburgh tools are lifetime tools and none of theirs rusted the day I brought them home. I won't ever buy crapsman again. I owned only Stanley/Proto before my car got busted into christmas eve and everything stolen out of the trunk. Had just done a bunch of work for a guy I served with who had a 3 year old, an almost 2 year old and a baby on the way...stolen that same night. Bought a whole crapsman set the day after Christmas opened it up... Admired it, went to use it the next day and it already had surface rust on 2 trays full of sockets. So yeah, I have bought a lot of HF hand tools and would put as much faith in them as I do in my crapsman.

Their 6" dual action polisher was recommended to me by a professional detailer as a Porter Cable alternative. It has been awesome. Much higher quality than what I'm used to getting from HF historically.

Definitely torque wrenches, especially if you have a friend with a beam wrench to self-calibrate.

It just couldn't handle a cruiser.

broke it on my '02 540i/6 :p
the same night i also broke a HF 1/2" to 3/8" "impact rated" adapter, twisted it clean off with my big milwaulkee impact, the CRAFTSMAN (old type) non-impact rated socket i was beating it it with held up fine...

ended up selling that beast (the bmw), but HF certainly sells some junk... but that doesn't stop me from going there all the time, my office is less than a mile from one, gotta drive by it multiple times a day...

i bought the snap-ring pliers from there, i had a bad feeling about them and for some reason every single pair of pliers i've ever gotten from there are absolute junk....

i figured with something i'd use so little, it wouldn't be a big deal...

EDIT: full disclosure, they replaced all broken tools no questions asked... but does that really help the situation?

The hooks that fold out from the back of those lights fit perfectly on the 3rd row seat belt bolts for lighting up the area.

The bearing and race driver is a must.

Got the 3/4 drive torque wrench for the crankshaft bolt ( I call it the Beastmaster ) you'll understand if you ever buy one.

Have the 3 ton floor jack ( works good, make sure you bleed the air )

20 ton press (used it once) going to convert it to a press brake

90 amp welder ( meh ) used it for the WRX to 80 series seat meld

Probably going to get a set of there bigger impact sockets

Bought a 4-1/2" angle grinder about 15yrs ago, only problem I've had (a week after I bought it) was the plug on the end of the cord went kaput. Went to the tool repair shop here in Sacramento and bought a porter cable cord for it (12ft long) and it's never let me down. Even left it out in the rain once by accident. Let it dry, still aok. Otherwise, yes to jack stands, their steel floor Jacks are pretty good, but a buddy of mine had one of their aluminum "racing" floor Jacks fold into scrap. It was under a blazer, nothing crazy, rated at 3 tons and he had it under the rear diff, folded almost instantly. Their 12amp chop saw kicks ass, just bought it and chopped the ends off my rcv axles for the Aisin hub kit, worked flawlessly. Their impact sockets are great, along with hand wrenches, and most hand tools. Someone posted about pliers being junk, most are, but I'll sort through them and find a pair that has a good pivot/joint and never had a problem. I'm kind of a duck like that, I'll open a bunch of tools to inspect them before purchase to see if I'm getting something decent. Bought their tool cart recently, pretty nice as well. Seal driver kit I agree, great for the money. My friend also has that impact mentioned, the pneumatic one, kicks ass. I have various die grinders and air tools, all work fine. Air chisel kicks ass, the bits, or blades, whatever ya wanna call them, don't stand up to a Ford ttb lift for the record, but damm that chisel keeps on going. I have two stores in my area, both about 20 min away, ones in the ghetto, and the other has some junkies working in it. I bought the utility trailer a while back, it was marked down 70 bucks, she accepted my coupon, 20% off, and then gave me anot her 20% off again, it was the heavy-duty model (heavy-duty lawn clippings rated) and I scooted out the door for 177 bucks! Yes it's hit and miss, but if you take a minute to dig through the tools you're buying, and not just grab the first one ya see, it's decent stuff. Trail bag is mostly HF, and ever growing.

Interesting that my snap ring tool has been great after multiple axles jobs....then again it only get used twice per axle.

Some of the cheap ratchet sets are garbage
Breaker bars are awesome
Electric impact wrench has been good and broke a bolt so I'm more careful with it now
Interior plastic trim tools are awesome for the money
Their extension sets are amazing
Their gear wrench knockoff sets with floppy ratcheting head are amazing
I used countless boxes of their gloves
Grease guns is cheap and great for zerk fittings and the head fits perfectly into the knuckle grease port!

Bought tons of other stuff but I don't remember now :)

Doesn't count. You're connected to the source :flipoff2:

On the trail you will find on my rig...

12k winch. Top rated, and if I recall on Woody's rig. never let anyone in our club down, (waterproofing is recommended) $330 delivered to my house.

Tree strap.. works great. pulled my 80 (and several others) up a muddy trail in Texas in the middle of the night. $12. DONE

this is a great review, been eyeing these lately and wondering if they are a waste of time or not. Great to know they are working well for you and the rest of your club!
