I know. The timing is a little off, unfortunately.
I’d love to find an early Tacoma in good shape. Or an unmolested 3rd gen runner. Those early tacos are so cool. I know of 1 on Craigslist but I don’t know if it’s worth the price.
I think the early tacos and 3rd Gens are the next big value retention... and they are awesome.

just paid $17.5 for a 2011 reg cab 4x4 with 84k miles on it and msrp was $20k. And I got mine for a great price...

just saying it’s spooky how well these things hold value. I’ve seen some low mile reg cab 4x4 selling for $20k+ - more than what the cost new.
Yup. I was looking at a 99 Tacoma a guy asking 11,500. Said 11,000 was his bottom line. It was pretty nice from the pictures he sent and the add. I’m still looking though. Definitely an early Taco or 3rd gen runner for me. 4th gen runners are where the deals are but they are just a bit too soccer mom for me.

what constitutes and unmolested 3rd gen 4runner? like unmodified? There was an 02 with like 80k on it in NC for sale but he wanted like 18,5 for it but it was immaculate
$11K for a rust-free 4X4 1st Gen Taco would be a steal these days.

I paid 12,5 for my '95 extracab 5 speed three years ago. 125K miles. It came out of Nevada. I'm in it for at least 15 to this point. And wouldn't sell for that number now.
Yea. I guess “rust free” is in the eye of the beholder. There is one in Winchester I like but the frame was coated with por15. No idea about that. It looks real nice though. It was professionals done and the frame was repaired previously but it’s still a gamble to me. I may make a move on it but I’m real nervous.

cant hurt to look, bring a bore scope they rust from the inside out. always scares me when I see coatings. that why I left mine alone so people can see plus I have no rot to hide
Do you guys think 11 for that is solid? He sent me receipts of the work. Over 2 grand for frame repair and coating. Seems legit. Only issue is quarter panel damage where his grandpa brushed a pilon. Says it doesn’t leak. No real rust.
