More due north of Harrison Arkansas and south of Springfield

Did Big Bend family style last week.

Took the long way out via Waco, then Marfa. Made a stop at an old suspension bridge thanks to a heads up from @wngrog. Glad it was closed...zero chance i woulda drove it.

Marfa was cool, stayed at the St George hotel which was very nice. But the vibe in town was a bit waspy hipster for my taste.

next day rolled into Lajitas and dropped off the ladies at the resort for some spa treatment, while my buddy and i headed into the National park to reserve campsites.

turned around, went and fetched the ladies, then went into Terlingua to the container houses we had rented for the week. Fossil Knob Ridge. FYI...does not suck. Neither did that bottle of Taylor my buddy brought.

the next morning was spent back in Lajitas zip lining across canyons, which was very tight butthole.

Around noon that day the wind picked up, like 70mph, and turned into a genuine sandstorm. That killed our camp night plans, so we just chilled at the house and cooked. Below is normal vs sandstorm view from the house.

next morning sand was slightly better. Rolled into park early and saw a few sights, hit Santa Elena Canyon around 11:30. After a quick lunch we hiked in. Hike was great per usual, but was made especially great at the end because the river was only about 3-4” deep in the canyon. Which meant we illegally immigrated to Mexico once or twice. Didn’t see Mexican border patrol tho. Strange.

after that we hit river road headed toward Talley campsites, which are on the border / River also. When we got there, we found that a few local horses had been using it as a latrine. Horse sh*t was everywhere. So after letting the kids play in the river, drinking a few beers, and then once again becoming illegal entrants into Mexico, we bailed out towards the north with the goal of pirating a campsite.

after doing black gap Baja style, we found a jewel of a campsite on glenn springs road that had a great view north and south. Everyone put their Kuhl pants on, the good Whiskey came out, fajitas and spaghettios went
on the skottle, and good times were had.

next morning we slept in late, then headed to Boquillas to trade with the Mexican towns folk. Caught this fella in the act. $50 worth of $10 stuff later, we headed toward the Basin, where we ate a surprisingly decent lunch while soaking in 65° and an awesome view. After that, headed back to the house for showers and a meal in town.
