My trip report on Expo Portal got nuked somehow. Those damn things take a lot of time. I really really need to learn how to host my own stuff

Why? I have done long trip reports like that before and always started in Word, so I could edit/save progress. Then would post the paragraphs to the forum. Still have to upload pics and all that.

You're only going to be disappointed with a return trip to Helen, GA. Just keep your blissful oblivion while you still can. They have plenty of crowds in the summer for tubing and in the fall for Oktoberfest.
Outstanding write up. We ran the west to east route the following weekend. Started just north of Helen on the 75ALT and quickly picked up Tray Mtn Rd. Went up and over to Corbin Creek Rd then headed north just like you, to reconnect with the GA Traverse. Hit the same dead end and back tracked to Persimmon. Then back up FS32C to reconnect. Saw several downed trees too. Going to invest in a chainsaw myself very soon.
Last pic was a camper trailer that ran off the road. We had just crossed the Tallulah and a handful of fly fishers.

It’s a beautiful area. On the South Carolina end I saw lots of great places to branch off and explore
Warwoman Rd heads east out of Clayton GA and drops into Pine Mountain. There are lots of dirt & gravel that connects up near Burrel's Ford.

Took the kids on a pre Thanksgiving run over to Cheaha State Park in Alabama.

I’d been in Talladega Park a lot but not Cheaha. It was built in 1933 by the CCC and the fire tower/ museum is a testament to those guys abilities.
@wngrog had hit the area with fireman and someone else so I had a few Forrest service routes.
Cheaha has several 1-3 mile hikes with overlooks of I20, Oxford, Anniston etc looking back to the north.
We headed out Monday and pulled in that afternoon to the primitive camping area. (Sites are dairy close together so this crowd may prefer to try the Turnipseed camp ground outside and south of Cheaha on hwy 281 south)
We set up camp, cooked hot dogs and s’mores and racked out. Awesome clear, 45 degree weather.

The next morning we did pancakes, sausage, and eggs and hit all the Cheaha hikes and the museum/tower.
We drove south out of Cheaha and had lunch on the tailgate before hitting Cheaha falls.
We then hit road CR 600-2 that runs SE and hit our second hike, high falls. It was amazing.

Devils Den was closed due to hurricane Zeta damage but there are tons of hikes and sites in the area. A lot of great gravel as well.

Woke up to a beautiful fog, packed up, got coffee and doughnuts and headed home. Caught the rain at bham to wash us off.
