Took off a couple days early to pick up kids at camp.

Stopped through Tallladega NF to Scout the place where we are having a FJ55 Meet. Southeast Swine Soirée Nov 10

It’s a mix of gravel and backroads.

Being solo I like to drive as far as I can in the light then shut down at dark so I don’t miss anything. I got started late so I immediately started scoping out spots once I hit Chatahoochie NF

I ended up camping just beyond the Lake Conasouga group camp area

I made a tiny fire in my little “pit” I got for Father’s Day.

Day 2. I actually slept to 7:45 EDT. Was so nice and cool and quiet.

I peeled out east and spent 130 miles on the route. About 110 of them off road.

I finally saw another “overlander” at mile 110 today (210 for trip)

Turns out he’s an Old North Cruiser member named Austin.

I ended up seeing one 4RUNNER and one JK the rest of the day.

I’m somewhere outside Helen Georgia now.

Had to google BMT today when I visited the swinging bridge because of @BMThiker

So I started looking for a place to stop for the night. Found a nice ridge line I can be off the ground in the cool air.

Road kept going uphill so I investigated a bit too far.

It dead ended at an angle in a curve. No backing down.

As I did a 100 point turn at the top I kept sliding farther downhill until I was wedged in tight.

I went straight up Mark Farage Expo on it and got away with a tiny scratch.

Now I’m perched on the tailgate of my 100 gulping 4 Roses and watching the rain douse my fire.

I’m about to crawl in the tent and call it a night.

100 miles to go

Erin has one, super cumfy, but gets lots of stares while you get out your rocket science degree when you set it up and break it down. Great camp chair, not a great campfire chair

I tossed it in the truck assembled this morning and will repeat until I have to pack up the kids and come home

The scratches suck, but you did get do some fancy winching on more than your rose bushes.

I laugh at the scratch. I was staring at 2 doors and taking my rooftop tent off on the side of a mountain.

Put this trip in your list.

That looks like a great weekend. Rain or not you had some of the best weather weve had in a while.

Austin NC LX and i have yet to catch up for some traveling but its on the list. He was doing some of the GA traverse which looked pretty cool as well.

I had a few misadventures today but I finished the Georgia Overland trek.

Guys. I highly recommend it. Turn by turn goodness. You don’t need a guide or a plan. It’s all provided.

In the end I had to figure out where I was. I just followed the line.

Superb. Do it.

Probably headed up towards Warwoman Rd or Burrell's Ford this weekend and going to follow some of the traverse from Helen to Clayton.
